Most Popular Canon IS for birding ?

Is there any agreement with birders on their most popular Canon IS for birding? From the astronomy side, at least from CloudyNights, the 10x42 seems to be the favorite, with the 12x36 and 15x50s tied for a distant second/third. For birding is there any agreement? Any sales figures available...

    Canon 10x42 birder question

My most used binoculars for birding are the Zeiss 8x32FL and the Fujinon 14x40 TS-X and I am considering the Canon 10x42 to compliment. On paper this seems reasonable with 8/10/14X and 8/6.5/4 degree FOV BUT In the field, as a practical use, is this reasonable? Are the Canons and Fujinons too...

Favorite 8-10X Canon IS for woodland birding

I use a Fujinon 14x40 IS for more distant birding and a Zeiss FL 8x32 for closer birding. If I replaced the 8x32 with an 8-10X IS for lighter weight and greater FOV than the fuji, which Canon would be your choice? Just looking at specs, it seems like the 10x32IS at 2/3 the price ad weight of...

    Thoughts ? on Binocular Colors

Most binoculars are either black or a shade of green (I guess to blend into background better) I have an older Zeiss FL with an ugly greenish color. I have been interested with the SW 32mm sand color, now SW is coming out with a bright burnt orange in the 32mm NL (it yells to me "buy me, get me...

Recommendation for IS for flying bird ID and viewing

For IDing flying birds I would like IS with fast engagement, wide FOV, high degree of IS and magnification and light weight; but since all binoculars are compromises, which current options are better with swallows and other flying birds? The newer fujinon 14x40 seems good except for the IF...

    scopes-does size matter?

Coming from the astronomy side, bigger is almost always better; but does this count in birding spotting scopes? Larger seem better at light gathering, higher mag; but also less portable. What sizes are more popular with birders? thanks, edj
