    Thanks Cliff. I guess if I don't go on a specialist photographic tour, the vehicles could be cramped and a long lens a problem as you say.

    Thanks Niels. That looks a good little camera. I'll probably have 2 SLR bodies with me so I guess I could have the 100-400 + 1.4x on one and 24-105 or 70-200 on the other.

    I use the Wimberley replacement foot. It's very low profile meaning it's very stable but also that it's a bit of a pain to hold when carrying the lens.

    7D2 AF is brilliant In case there was any doubt about the AF ability of this camera, photographing damselflies in flight over bright water was quite a challenge.

    Many people start off with the Canon 100-400mm as I did. It's a great lens, even more so by the look of things in its latest guise, and it does lots of things well enough to be satisfying. Great for taking on hols too if you might do some wildlife snapping. :)

    Thanks Paul. The 100 with a TC seems a reasonable way forward but I wonder if the Sigma 150 with the OS would be better. My non OS 150 is fabulous and very robust but I've not heard much about the OS version.

    Thanks for ther idea. What I meant was I like to handhold rather than use a tripod or monopod for macro so I'm thinking of moving to an image stabilised lens to increase the number if keepers.

    Hi All Currently I use the Sigma 150mm macro but not the OS version. I like to travel as light as poss when doing macro and I wonder if it would be much of an advantage to get the OS version of the same lens or to get the Canon 100mm IS. Any opinions welcome. Cheers, Tim

    I think the high ISO performance will be very interesting to see. My guess is that it will be more similar to that of the 7D2 than the 5D3 because of the pixel density but it woiuld be nice if it was better.

    Well I've had my 7D2 for a couple of weeks and I'm very happy with it. My impression is that the AF is fast and accurate and I'm getting more detailed pictures when I crop heavily. I generally use it at ISO 800 or under which is what I do with the 1D4. I really like the much quieter shutter...

    I didn't get any very good pictures because of incompetence in other areas. This large crop was the best of a bad bunch.
