Biscay ferries
BUMP... Has anyone done the Biscay trip recently? If so, I'm keen to know which of the two sailing options (see below, taken from Brittany Ferries website) gives you the longest time over deep water. 2000+ Bee orchids, Norwich 2000++ Bee Orchids along a short stretch of road on a suburban housing estate in west Norwich (Norfolk). The colony was discovered last year.- JCL

Norfolk Butterflies and Moths
Brown Argus in my New Costessey garden today. (Also Painted lady.) Former a major surprise - of the level of Silver-washed Frit & Wall which have also graced in the garden since 2014. Odd! -

Belgian Bowhead Has anyone gone for the Belgian Bowhead? And connected? One well-known mammal watcher narrowly dipped, despite fortuitously being in N France as the news broke yesterday and haring to the site. I can't do today/Mon, but if it is seen again tomorrow, I'll go Mon night if anyone... -

Recent polecats/polecat-alikes Today I found the attached roadkill mustelid on the edge of Norwich at the A1074/A47 junction. looks a good candidate for polecat (e.g. front paws at least are dark). Unfortunately, key particulars were squashed. This follows recent roadkill polecats on the A1067... -

Not the case. The female and three cubs have been followed for several weeks and are using a small area. The site is such that each time the cats move more than several 100 m they have to cross a drivable track. If that track is covered in snow (as at present), they leave fresh prints. Find the... -

I have just returned from Estonia (site 1hr from Talinn), having successfully twitched Eurasian Lynx (female and cub). While the snow remains, there is a decent chance of others connecting - but you need to move fast. I will write a short trip report/blogpost, but unfortunately broke my ribs... -

Calling 1d x ii users... What AI SERVO AF setting do you use for birds in flight? I've just bought an x mk ii and my eyes are bleeding trying to set up the AF function suitably. Many thanks in advance! James -
