    Sparrow I.D. Tia Juana River Valley, So. Calif.

    The Savannah Sparrow has more extensive streaking on the breast and flanks. The bill is lighter in color and thicker in this specimen. Song Sparrows have a dark bill, although the breast looks similar.

    I came across an account for a Thick-billed Kingbird to be found occasionally Carlsbad, Ca. area. I went through my Kingbirds and came across this shot. Does it look larger because of it being wide open or is it a Thick-billed Kingbird instead of a Cassin's ? Kingbird

    Thanks to the commenters, the second bird doesn't appear to have the crest like the first and the coloration around the bill seems different, but they were close together so it makes sense that they are both sharp-tailed grouse.
