    British Birds digital edition

Anybody on here with a digital subscription to BB who can get the Pocketmags app to work correctly, ie correctly show the extra content, on a Windows 10 PC? I can read the digital copy fine when I view via the website but when I download a copy to the app most of the extra content doesn't work...

    UK Gull sp

Anyone got any thoughts on this gull currently at Chew Valley Lake, just south of Bristol, and present since the end of October. It is not that large, about the size of a Lesser Black-backed, and seems to be faithful to a small part of the lake, just off the main picnic site. It tends to sit on...

    Fungi in seed compost

We've been growing some wild flowers from bought seed, in trays on the window ledge. As well as the seeds sprouting we've had a good crop of these mushrooms. Anyone know what they are and where are the spores likely to have come from (the seed compost is supposedly sterile). Cheers Rich M

    Tracing a colour ring

I realise this may be the wrong forum but does anyone know of any way to trace colour rings on what are, in all probability, escaped birds? To give you the background, 2 adult Red-breasted Geese turned up at Chew Valley Lake, Somerset on Friday and are still present today. Both birds have...

    Cortinarius sp?

Are these both one of the Cortinarius species? Both found in grass beside pines but in two different groups. Thanks Rich M

    Tricholoma sp?

I wondered if the 2 photos on the left show one of the Tricholomas but nothing seemed to fit; there was quite a large patch of them. Nearby there was an equally large patch of the fungi in the 2 right hand photos, superficially similar but much smaller. Any thoughts on either. Thanks Rich M

    Fungi ID

Found this in long grass on the verge of a relatively busy road - it was quite a bruiser, about 8 inches high. Any thoughts? Cheers Rich M

    Cortinarius sp?

I'm assuming that these are all Cortinarius, but I'm not sure if two separate species are involved or if they are all the same! Growing in short turf, under a silver birch, with some Fly Agarics close by (but most the amanitas gone over by now). Thoughts appreciated. Rich M

    Milkcap sp

I'm having pinning this down to a species - growing under Grey Poplar. Any thoughts appreciated. Rich M

    Another to ID

Today on a steep bank under mixed woodland I find quite a lot of Yellowing Woodwax (Hygrophorus discoxanthus). Not far away I found a small patch of the attached, which is bright yellow at all stages. Rubbish photos but it was quite dark under the trees. Any thoughts on what it might be? Rich M

    3 Fungi to ID

Found these 3 today on a mown roadside verge, beside a copse of, mainly, pine. Quite a few of the grey ones, just the two reddish ones, and the one dirty white mound. Any thoughts appreciated. Rich M

    Entoloma sp?

I'm assuming these are one of the Pinkgills; any help pinning it down appreciated. In a damp meadow grazed by cattle, south of Bristol. Thanks Rich M

    Fungi ID help wanted

Any pointers on either of these species would be welcome. The first 3 pictures are of a small mushroom found in a grassfield which is regularly grazed by cattle and has plenty of Waxcaps. The other two pictures were of a smallish mushroom with a brittle stipe found at the bottom of a hedge...
