Swarovski 8x32 Fieldpro - what Harness

You can also get free adaptors from Swarovski Customer Service that will allow you to use any "traditional" strap (or harness) if you do decide you don't like the supplied FP strap.

    swarovision 10x42/10x50

If you are particularly interested in butterflies etc. the 8.5x42 might serve you best amongst the EL range with its better close focus. When out birding with my EL 10x50s, I usually find it's easier to carry a second pair of smaller close focussing bins than try and back up far enough to get a...

    BTX Binoviewer for ATX scopes

Meant to post this sooner but completely forgot (sorry). I had the chance to compare the BTX to my current 85mm ATX while at Minsmere at the start of the month. Once correctly adjusted (e.g. IPD and head rest) the view felt more relaxing (even for someone like me whose vision in one eye is...

    Used spotting scopes - UK

Any (most) of the specialist optics retailers should have a used stock for sale from part-ex deals. You'll typically pay more than a private sale but should get some sort of warranty/returns option. Two you could try are: http://www.at-infocus.co.uk/usedequipment.html...

    20-60 or 25-50 eyepiece?

My experience was the same as Fedster's with the 20-60x on the 65. I've only used the 25-50x on the 80 and found that much better. Though even with the latter, as a spectacle wearer, I found the eye relief a bit short in some of the zoom range. This could make eye placement a little tough...

    Opticron's new Doubler

Thanks Pete. I went ahead and ordered one. Which has just turned up ready for some birding this weekend. :) You might want to think about including a case to protect it when not in use. I imagine most users will only "whip it out" occasionally to confirm an ID etc and that it will spend most...

    Opticron's new Doubler

Hi Pete, Could you advise if any of the UTA will fit the EL 10x50 and if so with which adaptor ring? I used to have the old 2.5x version with a pair of EL 8x32s but found the magnification a bit high except in very good light so ended up selling it on. It was such a brilliant portable option...

ED50 Grippa Case - does anyone still use one?

Don't worry you're not the only ones... Another user here, or at least my wife is. She loves her angled ED50 with the 16x eyepiece and the grippa case. When she wants more magnification she either takes a larger scope and tripod or more often just looks through mine! Her rationale being, I...

recomended lense for Nikon Fieldscope ED50 Spotting Scopes

Hi Rex, Either the 20x or 27x would be my recomendation too. I had the 13x-40x zoom as well at one point but ended up selling it as I found the narrow field of view offputting. I tend to use the 20x most of the time as I usually use this scope with a little Culman mini-tripod/sholder-pod and...

    24/30x eyepiece on the ED50

My wife has been using this eyepiece with the ED50 for over a year and loves the wide bright image. She also uses Nikon's "grippa" case, so finds the comparatively low magnification a boon.

    Swaro case

I've been told that the latest version of the Swaro case is supposed to work with the DCB.

    G1 And Swaroski HD

I'm using the old Contax U4R rather than the camera you have and at least for now have gone back to using my fixed 30x eye-piece over the 25-50x zoom when I'm digiscoping. The greater eye-relief of the 30x means I get no vignetting at any level of camera zoom. With the 25-50 I have to either...

New Swarovski zoom scope & eye piece.

I was lucky enough to visit Cley Spy in Norfolk over the Easter weekend. They have a single copy of the new zoom in for demonstration (one of only two in the UK apparently), they expect to receive their first retail stock at the start of May. Wasn't able to do any scientific testing but the...

New Swarovski zoom scope & eye piece.

Clay, Many thanks for all the useful information you've posted on the new zoom eyepiece. For those who, like me, wear spectacles, would you be able to post some details of how the eye relief varies (if it does) at different magnifications. Regards, James

    swarovski DCB adaptor

Matt, I went the Eagle Eye Optics route in the end to link my Contax to the 65HD. Only had a chance to use it once so far but it seems much easier to get shots than with the Nikon set up I tried at an intro course. For me the Eagle Eye kit won out for two reasons over the DCA. It didn't...

    swarovski DCB adaptor

Thank you both for your replies. I tend to agree with you the possibility of the Contax slipping out of the cable release bracket is not a risk I'm comfotable with. In the the heat of the moment things to have a habit of getting knocked etc. James

    swarovski DCB adaptor

Ray, Please post details of your results if you decide to go this route. I have just purchased a Contax and am now faced with the conundrum of how best to attach it to my Swarovski scope (eg Eagle Eye Kit or DCB+Penine bracket). Like you I wish to be able to easily swap between observation and...

    So which Tripod

Kim, I think you'll find that the "delta" tripods sold by infocus are just rebadged velbon ones and they now come with clip locks rather than twist ones (though you can get ones with either sort of leg locks from warehouse express). James
