    What's happened to the hide???

I've not been down Teeside way for a while until last week when I noticed the Screen/Hide overlooking the Seals at Greatham Creek was gone and the path looked dug up:eek!:. Are there alternate plans on the go or is it back to the bad old days of walking along a busy road and looking from the...

    Sparrowhawk hunting.

Yesterday I saw two Sparrowhawks circling above a group of mature trees in a village garden. Then one of them swooped down and flew around the outskirts of the trees and the other flew into the trees, flushing half a dozen Woodpigeons out. The one that flew around the trees then grabbed one of...

    Rotating the picture on video.

I have a video mode on my camera which I have hardly ever used and when I have I'm not sure what to do with them on a computer to edit them. Today I used the video mode but didn't think what I was doing and held the camera in Portrait position. Is there a way to rotate the picture so I can...

    Slavonian Grebes???

Just got back from a week in the highlands of Scotland and would like confirmation on the ID of these Grebes. First thoughts when I saw them was Slavonian, then started to doubt myself thinking Black necked Grebes have tufted feathers on the head too (only seen then in the flesh in winter...

    Dolphin times at Channonry point.

I'm heading up to Strathpeffer for a week starting the 21st June and was hoping to get along to Channonry Point one day to try and see some dolphins. What is the best time and tide to visit to see the Dolphins there? High tide? Low tide? somewhere in between? Morning? Afternoon? or Evening...

In Rothesay harbour, Isle of Bute, Scotland.

Anyone any idea what the bird is in this dodgy photo? Taken in Rothesay Harbour on the Isle of Bute, Scotland. It only swam away from me so couldn't get a better view of it and the brief view through the bins I still couldn't make out what it was before I had to get on a bus:-C.

    Duck in NE UK.

Had a walk around the lake at Hardwick Park near Sedgefield today and saw a Duck I didn't recognise. At first from a distance I saw the pale cheeks and thought a Common Scoter had got lost, as it's miles from the sea but then I got closer and saw the pale sides. It was swimming with a few...

Using t/con on a macro lens.

I've recently got hold of a Kenko 1.5x t/con and thought about trying it on my Tamron 90mm Macro lens. Will the use of the t/con alter the minimum focus distance and how will the DOF be affected? For eg. to get more DOF you stop down to f8-f11, however with the use of the t/con you loose one or...

    Black Necked or Slavonian Grebe.

I saw this Grebe at Hartlepool today. I'm not too good with grebes in winter plumage but with the red eyes I was thinking Black Necked but the bill looks a bit straight rather the slightly upturned so now I'm thinking it could be Slavonian Grebe. What do you think Black Necked or Slavonian???

    Buzzard or Eagle.

I saw this large bird of prey while on the Isle of Skye. It looked a lot bigger than all the buzzards I'd seen while in Scotland but being so high I couldn't tell if it was a much hoped for Golden Eagle (never seen one before). Can anyone tell from this almost silhouette if it's just another...

    Waders for ID at Salthome.

I saw a couple of distant waders at Saltholme RSPB reserve today. I'm still a bit unsure of my Waders, especially at a distance in the rain through Bin's, but I was thinking the first three shots (same bird) are Greenshank??? very long legs compaired to other waders I could see. The last one I...
