    Kestrel eating a snake ...whole!

Have witnessed a Kestrel this evening, swallowing a snake in one piece. Can you please advise me if this is common food for a Kestrel. I did manage to digiscope several pictures of the snake being swallowed, so will post them when I have photoshopped them, as taken from about 100 metres. Malc

A question for Swarovski DCB users please.

I am trying to help a newcomer to digiscoping, they have the DCB adaptor which was obtained second hand. When you try to adjust the camera from side to side to centre it on the eyepiece, it is almost impossible, as the slider the base of the camera fits on to is extremely stiff to move, and...

    Mouth operated cable release

No don't laugh. How much easier to digiscope with two hands free. I made this simple device before going to Portugal in September. While trying to digiscope Sardinian Warbler in bramble bushes, they were constantly moving in search of food, one hand on the focus ring on the scope, the other...

    Digiscoping in windy conditions.

Went out in near gale conditions this afternoon (Saturday) to Stanpit marsh near Christchurch Dorset, between 12.30 and 3.00pm. Main objective was to see if digiscoping was at all possible in high winds. Using the Nikon P5100 with VR on. (I normally shoot with VR on anyway) I took about 56...

I have had an email from a reputable company who would like to buy some photos from me. They have asked for them to be sent as JPEG10. Pigeon migration ? an explanation required please.

Ok so I am a newish birder, but can anyone tell me why thousands of pigeons are heading west, down here on the south coast near bournemouth. I thought they pretty well stayed around the same place, do they also migrate, and if so to where. Here is part of a report by a local bird club "CHOG"...

    Spain Extremadura 24th-31st March 2007

We have just got back from a week in Extremadura, and have written a report with pictures, on one of our web pages. We have been to Extremadura twice before and loved it. Fuji F30 good digiscoping camera?

Well I have been using one for the last 3 months, my first foray into Digiscoping. My first trip out, I was quite suprised to get a few decent pictures. The weather since then has been decidedly iffy, so just a quick visit to the local marsh between the wind and rain had to suffice. Today I...
