Tit/ Bulbul in Creek Park, Dubai this January

I saw this bird back in January. It looks very much like a Great Tit but with a reddish vent so I had it down as Periparus rubidiventris, Rufous Vented Tit. It has been suggested that it may be a White Cheeked Bulbul. From the pictures in Opus it looks nothing like either one! I have no Field...

Upper Slaughter, Glos. Today, possible Nightingale

I saw a bird today as I enter a wood by Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds. It was quite large (between a Robin and a Blackbird), dumpy shape, brown above and light, almost white below. It was perched on a post. Unfortunately it flew off almost immediately into the trees and I did not see it...

    South Atlantic Storm-Petrel?

This bird is about mid-way between Namibia and the Cape Verde Islands on a cruise ship. It may have been on board since Walvis Bay. I'm guessing it's a Storm-petrel, possibly juvenile. Alan

    Namibian Coast today

I'm trying to identify a small white bird, about the size of a Tern, seen today in a group off the Namibian Coast. Not sure how far out - cruising between Cape Town and Walvis Bay. The top front edge of the wings had a strip of black all the way. Nearest I can find in my book is a Fulmar Prion...

Pigeons on Iles aux Aigrettes, Mauritius

Our guide was very scathing of these doves. (He wasn't very interested in anything that wasn't a Pink Pigeon). He said they were not Pink Pigeons and they don't look like Madagascan Turtle Doves or Zebra Doves. He called them something like 'Ramy'. Any ideas please? Alan

    Mauritius Today

Any ideas on these please? The orange bill and eyeline look distinctive. Seen near Mahebourg, by the coast. I only saw them briefly. They were small, smaller than the Red Fodys there. Alan [Good day. Pictures of Pink Pigeon and Mauritian Fody on Ile Aux Aigrettes.]

Seen from the Elephant Park in the centre of the island. It was a long way away up a tall tree so it's a heavy zoom. Any ideas, please? It seems to have an unusual forked tail. Alan [I have seven days at sea so I may drag out some really obscure pictures for you.]

Two Bulbuls in Central Java yesterday

A great day visiting Borobodur but just two brief bird spots. The first one, half way between Semarang and Borobodur, did not stay for very good pictures. The second one, at Borobodur seems to have a yellow vent. Also possibly turquoise ears although that may be a trick of the camera. (Three...
