    No mention of the Sousliks when you Google the Aeropark now, and it looks like the site has been 'improved'. We went there a few times, turns out it was fifteen years ago. Sorry Steve. Saw them last year at Gerasdorf swimming lake near Vienna (on the hamster trip).

    Apologies for reminiscing, but they used to be in the Aeropark at Budapest Airport. It was great to clamber around those old Soviet era aircraft, and also watch the Sousliks underneath the planes. Great for children to see them. Presumably the critters that have been moved?

    I took a short drive down to Rochford, Essex to see the Common Seal (hope ID correct) that has been in the news recently.     Surprisingly good last night despite chilly northerly. 27 species but nearly all regulars (those heading up the Norfolk Moths top 40). First Light Emerald and Lime-speck Pug for a while.

    May have to take break as the cat has taken to chasing the Jersey Tigers around the garden. However, when caught they seem to play dead and survive, but feel I've still got a duty of care for them.

    Amongst the regulars, an apparently rather late Knot Grass? (happy to be corrected on ID on these greyish complex pattern moths). 23 species last night despite the small trap being 'half covered' in JTs at one point.

    Jersey Tigers joined by two Garden Tigers last night. Always a very welcome sight.

    Last two nights at about twenty species, including Jersey Tigers (loads Thursday night in particularly) . I usually let at least some of them out, to avoid them them harming each other or the other moths. A single Gypsy Moth and single Oak Processionary, I think of as London moths .

    I'm not really adding much to what's already been said, but don't think I've ever failed to see them. One evening I took my two young nephews (as they were at the time) out in Wendover Woods at night, and they loved the experience spotting them with their torches.

    Back amongst the egg boxes again after flies around the pond die back. Not a bad night, with 20 species including first Jersey Tigers of the year in the trap, and my first Scalloped Hook-tip.

    We have a swarm of Semaphore Flies on our small garden pond at the moment so I feel inclined stop to mothing, just in case it's not helping. The pond seems in good heath with clear water and newts/frogs/damselflies, but I feel for the neighbours with so many flies. Anyone else had this problem?

    Modest numbers of the regulars for this small London garden, but they did include a Barred Straw, which I can't remember seeing before. Odd, fragile looking little moth.
