    Watercolour pencils

I don't like them myself- I find them too wishy washy and prefer watercolour crayons. You can use them as Mike described and they are much more vibrant and transparent. Carandache noecolour 11 watersoluble are the ones I have. When I actually paint in the field which at present is not as oftren...

Managed to get an afternoon at the local wetlands reserve today. Lots of our usual birds around and something not so usual for South Wales- a Spoonbill, European we were told. Quite exciting because I've not seen one before. Did some digiscoping and drew a few quick studies from the screen just...

    Des's Doodlings

I'd like to echo what tim said- doesn't he have a way with words- and add that I think the warmth of the orange/reds really compliment the greens nicely and add a feeling of warmth to the pictuure. Well done :t:

    Mike's conservatory

I'm really interested to see that you have put the black markings on the feathers before the brown overall colour. Since this looks like acrylic will you paint around them? Have saved this image to help me with feather patterns :t:

I think its always a good idea to buy the best quality art materials even if you don't have alot of experience. You can't get a full understanding of any media unless you buy the best- good luck- enjoy :t:
