    Garden visitors today

    Today at the feeders (Peanut, sunflower hearts, nyger & fat ball ) Siskins 18+ lesser redpolls 5 goldfinches 17 greenfinch 5 Chaffinch 6 blackcap 2 Robin 2 (males fighting) house sparrows 15+ starlings 5 Black birds 6 GSW 1 Jay 3 Jackdaw 5 wood pigeon 3 collared dove 2 Wren 1 Dunnock 2 :cat: 5

    Redpolls are back

    Redpolls arrived yesterday a day earlier than last year (2007-Feb 12) in our Bristol garden. Been visiting our garden and next door neighbours' garden three years in a row now. Always wondered how they find their way back to our garden. Any idea?

    Goldfinches unusual behaviour.

    There are 12+ goldfinches regularly visiting our garden. Yesterday morning after their breakfast of sunflower hearts and nyger seeds they all flew to the brick wall on the side of the opposite house and was pecking at the brickwork. Some of them did the same this morning. Is that normal?

    Common or Lesser Redpoll?

    We had these in the garden for about 4 weeks during February but could not decide if they were Common or Lesser Redpolls or both. Can anyone put us out of our misery?
