Great day yesterday playing cricket at Stiffkey. Had a great view of a Hobby skimming the trees but at around 5pm a Goshawk displayed overhead for a few minutes before being joined by a female and settling in the woods! It was enough to stop the match for a few minutes as half our team are...

Re: Dark Breasted Barn Owl A group of us found one roosting right on the coastal path at Stiffkey in November. It was definitely a lot darker and mottled around to head. We all agreed that it was different but we were 75% sure but no further conformation came|:(| The bird had been seen coming...

Highs & Lows What a brilliant year! Did some fantastic birding in Valencia and Tunisia this year. But at home highlights have to be Lesser Grey at Holkham and Little Bittern at Titchwell. Also watching the pair of Montague's Harriers at blahblah mobbing a Red Kite was pretty spectacular...

I live in Warham and there's been a male Hen Harrier floating around the Iron Age Camp regularly. I walk my dog there each day and he's pretty reliable. Take the hilly road opposite the three horseshoes pub and go to the top of the hill after about 2/3 mile and there's a metal gate on your right...

Can regularly be seen drifting over the wood on the hill in the middle of the village opposite the pub. Red Kite hasn't visited since last Friday though which is a shame but i've managed...

How local is your local patch?

Huge!! I live in Stiffkey in Norfolk, the closest house to the marsh. So my patch is from my back door either left (titchwell) or right (cley) although my favourite bit is heading south to a hill behind the house which is probably 'my patch'
