Ecuador bird photography mid September - start of October

Hi I'm a bit confused, is Wild Sumaco considered upper amazon basin or cloud forest? I have been in contact with a couple of companies looking at options for a 2 week tailor made tour in November. We were looking to focus on the andes and cloud forest rather than the amazon, (as we're thinking...

Ecuador bird photography mid September - start of October

How would one get around? Would you need to hire a car or does the lodge offer transfers from Quito? What about guiding, does the lodge provide this or do you just self guide? I've never been to Ecuador so I'm sure I would benefit from some guided birding. Would appreciate any advice you can...

Ecuador bird photography mid September - start of October

Following with interest. I am thinking about taking a trip to Ecuador in November if anyone is interested in planning with me. I have an interest in both birds and mammals, photography more than listing but keen to see as much as possible without covering too much ground. Definitely keen to see...

Sri Lanka and Western Ghats January 25-February 8 2023.

My friend and I had planned to go next March to look for cats, birds, pangolins and possibly blue whales, etc, but sadly we've decided to postpone for at least a year. Would welcome others to join us if things get back to normal by 2024.

Well it sounds like you need more information Richard. In any of your research have you had any quotes in from more specialist providers where Yabello was included and were any concerns raised then? I do note that Birdquest continue to include Yabello on their 2019/2020 tours. Whether the...

Thanks Richard, I appreciate your chasing up the ground agents. I agree it would be beneficial to book flights soon but am wary of doing this before we get back the quotes. Are we still looking at the three of us and a single vehicle now? I leave for Borneo on Friday week.

No idea about the camera issue - you seem to have more info than me there! . My goal would be to get some good pictures of the geladas and so I am keen to allow time for that in the schedule. Its about a 1hr 45 min drive from Lemi as far as I can see...

Thanks for the info mrak. Personally, I am not fussed about seeing the francolin, especially if it's likely to be scope views. But in any case I think we have allowed for a Night at Alem Ketema, Jemma to get to the escarpment at dawn. Do you have a trip report that we could read please?

Hi Richard, the link in the above post refers. Basically, Awash for the hyena cave experience, Bilen and alidgehe seem to have a good rep for turning up things like bat-eared fox, aardwolf, african wildcat, genets etc. Dinsho might be worth a look, and Harenna forest has lots of potential for...

Hi Richard, could you please also ask about night drives as I've seem mixed reports as to whether these are feasible or not. Do we think we might need space in the vehicle for a local guide from time to time? Thanks Jo

Flights are the same as I posted previously, i.e arriving at 7am on the Saturday morning and departing on Sunday at 01.20. Those are the best option via London.
