Common Buzzard and Two Lesser Black Backed Gulls.

I saw a Buzzard with a rabbit fairly high up having to take it through a throng of Lesser Black Backed Gulls. They kept flying at it but luckily it didn't drop the meal for the family. If it did drop it, the Lesser Blacks would not have been able to access it because of the vegetation it would...

The rarest birds in the Netherlands in winter 2023/2024

Not bad! Feels like a quiet period. Any results from the Laughing Dove ?

Caspian, Yellow Legged and Herring Gulls

I have read a few online comments about Caspian Gulls displacing Herring Gulls as the former spreads West and North. Caspian Gulls are on average larger? I would have thought the more Northern race of Herring Gull would be the largest in this bunch. Also the Caspian Gull beak looks longer but...

    Olive-backed Pipit or Tree Pipit?

Greece has just had a first national record. 2 birds together I believe.

    Olive-backed Pipit or Tree Pipit?

What would make it an Olive Backed? The faint back streaking? The huff at the start of the supercilium?

    What happened?

I saw this Pallid Harrier in Pakistan a month ago. What could have happened to it's tail? Burnt?

Is Slimbridge wetlands the Mecca of bird spotting in the Uk?😄

Never been to Slimbridge but I am guessing it is the wrong sort of reserve to compare to Attenborough. I have been to Attenborough and shocked it is so cheap to park there but that is brilliant for us. Sadly Balsam was present over much of the site so that is a cross. This is the latest...

    Waxwings

Had a few more Waxwings locally with one sporting colour rings. After some enquiries it had been rung in Elgin Scotland on 15th November and seen again in Haslingden Lancashire on 25th December. The Waxwings seem to be avoiding Lancashire. How are numbers and sightings elsewhere?

Yes. It seems a scarcity rather than a rarity in the Netherlands.

Need a realtively cheap bridge camera quite soon

I was thinking of buying a cheap-ish bridge camera for a friend. They don't have a camera and it would help them a lot. I was thinking of Nikon L320 but some say it is too old technology wise. What other options are there? I want to spend less than £120 for sure. Any recommended online...

    Your Most Recent "Life" Bird

A 12 year battle trying to connect with Green Winged Teal somewhere resulted in a victory for me today. The location was at Lunt Meadows, Lancashire, England and the date today. It is the most tedious bird I have ever attempted to twitch. I have never specfically been out twitching this...

    Waxwings

Keep checking regularly. I checked an area early morning and there wasn't even a Thrush and after 30 minutes the same spot was checked again and a flock of 4 appeared which then increased to 11. I had a flock of about 40 at a local park on the 10th of December 2016 around a cotoneaster tree...

    Shrike ID Pakistan

Taken on 21 August at Dera Ismail Khan I and some others inclined towards Brown Shrike..... I think maybe a first winter female...no whitish outer tail edges, vermiculated buffish underparts, tapered thin tail, biggish head, browner head and upper body and brightish looking tail Another...
