Bird ID help needed [Staten Island NY]

Yep, I have looked long and hard at possible candidates and Pine Warbler looks like the one. The drab, grayish-brown color of the wings, as well as the long tail ad heavy bill all point to Pine. I should have picked this up as I have seen a few drab looking Pines for the year, but this one...

Bird ID help needed [Staten Island NY]

Thanks Larry - Chestnut was a candidate, but the eye ring bothered me as it did not seem as pronounced as it should for a female. Like you, I am curious to see what others submit.

Bird ID help needed [Staten Island NY]

Bird ID help needed [Staten Island NY] - added another image... I am having trouble with this one. Bill, size and wing bars doesn't seem to fit any Wood Warbler profile or does it? Thought about Indigo Bunting, but I am not sure - wing bars seem too prolific? Appreciate any feedback/thoughts...

    ID Please, Oklahoma, USA

Jim - when I first saw the images, I immediately thought of Bank Swallow. I then read the responses on the thread and still thought of Bank. However, I have looked at this image really closely and I detect a hint of "Metallic Blue Green". Do you or anyone else notice this? I am going to go...

Confirmation needed on Yellowlegs Queens NY

Thanks...it was my FOY. BTW, I looked as some other photographs and I do see the base being paler. Thanks again. I am editing this post with a question. Do you think that the plumage indicates that it is in full breeding plumage?

Confirmation needed on Yellowlegs Queens NY

Aha - JANJ...I initially thought Greater, so let me share with you why I then leaned towards Lesser. I thought with the Greater, that the bill would be paler at the base; here the bill seemed to be uniformly colored. Also the bill seemed too straight??

    Downy Woodpecker USA

I agree with Hairy. While the bill is not shown in its entirety, you do get the impression that the bill is indeed the size associated with "Hairy"

    Goose ID Confirmation (Queens NY)...

Thanks everyone for their comments. The observations raised by a few regarding the curvature of the beak could make the case for a hybrid; however, I am wondering how much fact does the status of this goose being an immature according to the report by Shane Blodgett plays into the looks. I...

What a find Matt...thanks for sharing. Incredible, just observing the behavior...the bobbing of the head and always checking for danger. How lucky that this person was able to see all of that right in their backyard.
