    Loch Garten Ospreys

    Does anyone know if loch garten has any returning Ospreys yet as the RSPB site is now down for maintenance which I suspect was due to being hit by loads of spam since Tuesday. The webcam is still running but the forum is down.

    Canon 300mm 2.8 mk 1 or mk2

    I am after one of these lenses and was wondering how much difference there is between the two and could that justify the extra £2k+ or so between a good second hand mk1 and a new mk2. Does anyone have any experience of both lenses to compare.

    fruit suet fat balls

    Has anyone tried or devised a method of making suet balls containing fruit such as apple. I tried with berries but was a total disaster as they just crumbled.chopped raisins is an option as I have done these before but the birds weren't too keen.

    I have several feeders up at the minute but I am inundated with starlings. Does anyone know the best method of keeping them off the feeders ? some sort of homemade cage perhaps.     joining sunflower heart feeders

    Has anyone ever tried to join 2 of the yellow type sunflower heart feeders.I get lots of goldfinch and green finch along with sparrows in my garden and I would love to see 2 feeders joined together full of finches. I am thinking of so soldering them together unless someone has a better idea.

    Roosting box heater

    Does anyone know of a way to put a small heating element into a roosting box to provide some extra warmth during the freezing winter months. This is something i've just thought about but not got any ideas how to do it or what to use.It may seem a daft idea but i fancy giving it a go somehow.

    Extra long Sunflower Heart Feeder

    Peanut butter going cheap

    Asda have large 700g jars of crunchy peanut butter on sale for 74p which is 4p cheaper than the same jar half it's size, i use this for fatballs in the winter and it keeps in it's jar for a year.Get it now.

    New nest box
