Astro Eyepieces on Celestron Hummingbird Just a heads up. The Celestron allows for the use of astro eyepieces. rmel66.

    Celestron Hummgbird mini scope

Confirmed recently that astro eyepieces can be used with this scope. I tried two eyepieces (20 mm plossl and 9 mm TMB planetary). The view through the planetary was very good, but the plossl could not reach infinity focus. Smyth lens on the planetary, maybe? Rmel66.

Fixed eyepieces for Helios Filedmaster ED60

When using the astro eyepiece in the holder, you can modify the eyepiece by screwing the barlow element of a shorty barlow directly into the eyepiece barrel and then placing in the holder. In many cases this allows for achievement of infinity focus. rmel66.

What is the diameter/thread pitch of the external thread? I checked on my scope and the specs are ~44mm x 1. rmel66.

    Compact spotter

The eyepiece does not go inside. The long focal travel of the C70 Catadioptric scope allows for an adapter that screws on to the external thread shown in the photo without compromising the infinity focus with an astro eyepiece. With the Helios, the adapter would probably not allow for infinity...

    Cheap draw scope opinions please

The Scout Yukon is readily available. I had one and used the objective to make a very sharp 50mm spotting scope that uses 1.25" eyepieces. http://main.yukonopticsglobal.com/product-overview-scout-30x50.html

New Bosma 66 mm ED? Look familiar?

There is a solution to infinity focus: Get the barlow element from a shorty barlow (should screw off separately) and screw it directly on to the eyepiece. This should allow most eyepieces to come to infinity focus with the advantage/disadvantage of increased magnification. Rmel66.

Got my Hawke 85ED,Need advice on screw in eyepieces

Addendum: Deben (Hawke) offers an adapter ring for the Endurance line of spotting scopes. I am assuming that it gives a male T2 (42mm x 0.75) mount. If so, then T2 to 1.25" adapters can be readily sourced. Info. for the adapter...

Got my Hawke 85ED,Need advice on screw in eyepieces

If I am not mistaken, the Hawke Endurance series of spotting scopes can use 1.25" astro eyepieces. Maybe you should contact Hawke (Deben) regarding accessory eyepieces. Rmel66.

    Alternative spotting scopes

Edge sharpness is good, but I must add that the scope operates at less than 50 mm aperture given how far the focuser tube goes into the optical tube: at infinity focus the focuser tube is approximately 5 mm from the objective. This is equivalent to stopping down the lens so probably accounts for...

    Alternative spotting scopes

I have put together a short tube refractor using the objective from a Scout Yukon 30 x 50 spotter. Pin sharp within magnification limits and the design allows for 1.25" eyepieces. I believe the Yukon (Sibir) optics are sourced from Belarus. rmel66.
