    Allen's or Rufous Hummingbird, California

    I normally have both species here in northern California and wanted to make sure this adult male is a Rufous and not an Allen's. I'd appreciate your comments.

    Question on American Wigeon

    I found this wigeon at the Colusa NWR in California. Am wondering if it could be a hybrid with an Eurasian wigeon. The only real rufous coloring is on the head where it should be green. Eurasians have been spotted at this refuge in previous years.
