    Dead Junco

    I just looked outside my window and saw a dark object laying on my snow covered pool. I went outside (it's 14 degrees with a wind-chill in the negative numbers) and found a poor little junco, dead. Bird seed blow onto the pool cover from the nearby feeder, so it's not uncommon to see birds...

    Gull Identification

    I haven't had a chance to open my field guide, so I figured I'd ask here instead. Can someone tell me what kind of gull this is? The picture was taken toady, on the North shore of Long Island, on the Long Island Sound. Thanks, Christine
