Initial thoughts on the Carson Hookupz

Also get the google Snapseed app as you can tweak and post process pics very easily. I use hair bobbles to make it fit a bit snugger and pull the carson onto the eyepiece to give a more solid contact. Spot on with the zoom. You're best off taking pics and cropping them rather than zooming in...

Been a nice little purple patch at Frampton recently. Here's a quick round up http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/placestovisit/framptonmarsh/b/framptonmarsh-blog/archive/2016/07/26/waders-on-the-move.aspx

Have you tried using the ear phones as a shutter release? Reduces camera shake then. Also worth looking into taking video as many phones take HQ video that you can take stills off.

    Does Autofocus Performance count?

Auto focus a nightmare if birds are moving. Get an app that locks focus so you can use your scope, otherwise you're second guessing the phone and it's second guessing you and you just end up with blurry rubbishness.

    New Kowa 883

The naked eye will always out perform a digiscope. This lens is a side bonus for photography but definitely more aimed at birding use and benefits. only 5% light loss. It will take a little getting used to as the exit pupil is much smaller. Ideally a little extra eye relief on the lens would...

Any phone to any optics adapter - Carson HookUpz

I'm not 100% but I remember some conversation in the research I did that the 6+ was too big but can't remember if the manufactures said it or a user. The Carson team are easy enough to find and talk to so go to their webpage or look them up on twitter. One thing to be aware of is the lens...

Any phone to any optics adapter - Carson HookUpz

Not sure if many people know about this or have one but just throwing putting it out there that this is a handy and easy bit of kit to use. While not being the most small and lightweight, it is pretty quick and easy once you get used to it. And best of all, if you change your phone or your scope...

    Android apps for digiscoping

Thank you for everyone's replies on my query above... Am I the only one using an Android phone to digiscope? On the off chance anyone else does and wants to know a good app, I got Camera FV-5 http://www.camerafv5.com/ which seems to do the trick...

    New Kowa 883

Not really about testing, more just getting the best from your scope...... highly recommend the 1.6 extender. I have sold three indirectly through showing people mine and a friend went out and bought the whole package on using the extender on my scope. Really does get the best out of what is...

    Android apps for digiscoping

Have jumped ship from iOS to Android... Went for the Xperia Z5 compact as it's a size I am used to. Can anyone recommend good camera apps? Don't need the editing software as I have snapseed. Would like an app that let's me lock focus and aperture so I can manually focus with the scope. Advice...

Is this the future of PhoneScoping?

Anyone seen this or better yet tried it with their iPhone 6/6s? http://www.dxo.com/us/dxo-one Couldn't see if it had optical zoom so assume it doesn't which is shame as this would make it the ultimate pocket digiscoping kit!

RSPB Frampton Marsh Black Brant - hybrid or real deal?

Thank you Steve. I've banged on about it before where you have a huge range of features for bernicla yet for nigricans they are very narrow, doesn't really make any sense at all. Would have been happy to call this a Brant straight off but have been curbed by talk of a 'pristine' candidates. Will...

RSPB Frampton Marsh Black Brant - hybrid or real deal?

Does anyone know or know someone who might know? Anyone want to come off the fence? I would be happy that this is in range of variation for features (flanks and collar) but I couldn't detect the tobacco tones hat would seal it. A female Brant perhaps?

    1.6x extender coming!

Mine didn't come with a case, just a selotaped bit of bubble wrap. Think I'll only be taking it off in really poor light conditions. Used it as dusk the other day at Warham Greens gate and picked a Barn Owl out near the Well's pines. Unreal.

    1.6x extender coming!

Anyone who owns an 883, get this lens. You are wasting the ability of your scope without it. It's like you're driving a Ferrari with only 4 gears. You will absolutely not regret this purchase. I used it in dull conditions and was amazed. Works beautifully with the 30x and even with the original...

    1.6x extender coming!

Best seller/price for this lens? Looks like an essential purchase to get the best out of the scope.

    1.6x extender coming!

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I already have the 30x as I got it when I bought the scope several years back. Just wondering if anyone that has the extender has the wide as well and knows if they are compatible and also if they perform well together. I wasn't sure if this 1.6 lens was purely designed...

    1.6x extender coming!

So this is now out and in the field.... Think this would be a better investment than upgrading to the new zoom but wondered if anyone has tried it with the 30x? Would give a 48x and if it retains the clarity and qualities or at least has minimal drop off then this combo would blow any other...
