    October 2016 GB&I

    After a very quiet start to the month last night produced a respectable 24 moths of 12 species including my first garden Acleris sparsana (please correct me if I have that wrong, FW 10mm) and a late Plumed Fan-foot which makes 26 for the year over 20 nights.

    September Moths GB&I

    A good start to the month last night, moths included Vestal and two NFG Parectopa ononidis and what I believe is Ectoedemia louisella. Any reason why it shouldn't be?

    Gelechia nigra?

    Gelechia nigra has been suggested for this elsewhere. I've been having this in the trap off and on for the last couple of weeks and have tried to ignore it but as it's been so persistent it deserves an ID :) Is the illustration in Sterling and Parsons mislabelled?     Brown-tail Yellow-tail

    I had these two a few nights ago. The moth with the black markings near the trailing edge had a deep chocolate-brown tip to the abdomen. As you can see the all white moth has a yellowy orange tip. I recorded them both as Brown-tail, was I correct? (I've never recorded Yellow-tail in my garden)...
