    Which Swarovski Scope?

I really didn't like the 95 with the zoom for seawatching and switched down to the 85 - much better as you have a wider field (and you can rarely use x70 on a seawatch anyway). But now I use the BTX on the 95 for serious seawatching. As a friend said, it's so relaxing you could almost nod off 😂...

Poncho vs. Rain Jacket and Pants

If going to the neotropics get a red umbrella. Hummingbirds think it's a giant flower! Seriously!

    New APC 50 Stabilised

If I was buying I'd go for the USB rechargeable option as Kite says don't use rechargeable AA batteries in their IS range (although on my 10x30 IS Kites I have only ever used rechargeable AAs, without problems).

    New APC 50 Stabilised

I'm still waiting for something in the 10x or 12x range with a nice wide field of view. I don't understand how the fov of the higher magnification IS Kites is always better than the equivalent models with lower mags...

Two people break 10,000 species, and on the same day? Can it be?

I'm undecided what range of skills would be required to place high in the best birder competition but I reckon that anyone who tapes stuff out should be barred from entry.

Two people break 10,000 species, and on the same day? Can it be?

I do now actually continuously record in the field during migration - partly as a result of the Bearded Tit fiasco!

Two people break 10,000 species, and on the same day? Can it be?

I ticked Bearded Tit as a patch life tick on call (heard two fly over me in pouring rain - my specs were covered in drops and I didn't get on to them visually). A couple of months later I unticked it as I'd forgotten exactly how they sounded and sort of talked myself out of it. That's the...

There's now a statement from Manakin on their website: https://www.manakinnaturetours.com/official-statement-to-the-birdwatching-community/

Collins bird guide 3rd edition in an App

The head developer, Joe, has been working all weekend on my issue and has now resolved it (we think!). It was to do with the fact that the Play Store was telling the app that I didn’t own the third edition in one place, and in another piece of code was saying I did own it. The correct...

Use the email button in settings. The more who report the harder I expect they'll work to fix it.

Go in to settings and click the email button. They are really trying hard to sort out my issue. The head programmer is now working on it.

Collins bird guide 3rd edition in an App

No it's the managing director of Nature Guides and she has been working hard to sort me out. It appears that it's some oddity to do with my Google account having two connected email addresses. I'm fairly happy with the app to be honest, although there are some errors and some functionality...

Collins bird guide 3rd edition in an App

I've upgraded the Android version to third edition but it keeps downgrading. I've emailed about it and they are looking into it. Anyone else having this issue? EDIT - just noticed at least two others up thread with the same problem.

Nikon P900/950 - Is there anything comparable worth considering?

The absolute best birding superzoom is widely regarded to be the Sony RX10 iv, but it's not cheap! And probably too big for you too.

Yes, it's a Black Guillemot rather than a Guillemot.

8x42 vs 10x42 the old story from a new perspective

I used 10s all my life but at 60 I have dropped to 8s as I get a less jerky view. (I also have a stabilised 10 which I occasionally use - stabilisation is amazing but the optics are not as nice as I'd like).
