Best fungi guide(s) for the UK

Probably rather late now but there are a number of field guides that will help in identifying certain species, or at least give you the opportunity of getting to family level, also bearing in mind that the majority of species need microscopy to obtain an id...

    Fungus #3 ID, please

    Porcelain fungus (Oudemansiella mucida)

    Are these edible?

They are an Agaricus of some type, and whilst some are edible, identification within this group is difficult so i would advise against consuming any.

Can anyone help with the ID of this fungi?

Very tricky without photos of the gills and stem. It is reminiscent of Agaricus arvensis, with those scales showing around the base of the stem, but that is as far as i can go unfortunately.

Can anyone help with the ID of these fungi?

I would say Coprinellus micaceus for the first one but would need photos of the stem and gills for the other.

Can anyone help with the ID of this fungi?

    A couple of micros

The second one is Trichoptera (family - Polycentropodidae). Holocentropus picicornis is a possible but, in any event, would require detailed examination to fully determine to sp level.

Could be a faded Zizina otis but a tricky group and one i have no experience with.

    Fungi for Id Please

Sorry for the delay in providing additional info Nick. The stem didn't appear smooth and there was some suggestion of pruinescence on the stem. There was an odour of some kind, possibly a rotting cabbage but my sense of smell is quite poor. Here is an image of the gills.

    Fungi for Id Please

These are in our garden, under a Pyracantha shrub with Ash and Silver Birch in close proximity. I will be able to provide gill shots etc over the weekend but was wondering if any id was possible from this photo alone?

Is this something on the lines of Gloeophyllum trabeum? found on old timber (railway sleepers) recycled into wooden steps.
