    New scope from Zeiss...

I had a look through the Harpia 95 in direct comparison with my ageing Kowa 883 and the old 20-60 zoom. The weather was dull and overcast. Subject matter was mainly distant trees approx 300 metres away. It is undoubtedly a quality well built scope and I was especially impressed with the much...

I'll second the above and add a brighter better EVF please! Dave

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Thanks Den. I've already turned it to the highest setting but still too dull for me I'm afraid. Still loving the camera especially for record shots of distant birds 😃 tho ..

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Thanks Mike, I'm pleased with the camera, never going to win prizes but it gives me record shots at distance, with no weight to carry and still enables me to be a birder. ;)

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Poor EVF solutions and BIF settings? Thanks for the advice on the Neewer viewfinder and hoodman loupe. I do not like the cameras EVF, far too dull with no eye relief for spec wearers. I'll persevere for the time being but would love to hear anyone else's solutions to the EVF. Neewer a definite...

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Thanks Mike, I'll get one oredered. What I like about this camera is how easy it is to use though sure I can do a bit better when I get more used to it. I know these images are not up to DSLR standard but I've not spent £000's, it weighs next to nothing, totally portable, grabable and has got...

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Can anyone recommend a lens hood and/or screw on lens protector to fit on the front please? I'd also like to try some kind of loupe or viewer over the LCD and use the LCD in place of the EVF which I find dull with poor eye relief ... I keep hitting the WiFi upload button (and other buttons)...

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Thanks Mike. Got some sunshine at last today, nice and bright but quickly realised that with a zoom this big, atmospheric turbulence is magnified too! Anyway here are some shots from today, most of them at 1000-1500mm and all hand held. Hobby and Sandwich Tern 70m plus distant.

83x anyone? The new Nikon P900

Hi guys Had my P900 for 2 days and typical they have both been dismal and cloudy ... hoping the sun shines soon! I've tried to copy my tried and trusty setting on my FZ150 to the 'equivalent' settings on the P900. On the FZ150 i had 2 custom settings for birding, one for birds in flight and...

Lumix G80 + 100/300 Power OIS vs Sony RX10Mk3 vs Nikon P900 vs Lumix FZ330

Well, the P900 is here and we've been out in the field together but the cloud cover has been thick meaning the light has been dismal. Tried to copy my tried and tested settings on the FZ150 to the equivalent settings on the P900 ... but mixed results so far hopefully due to the poor light. Bit...

Lumix G80 + 100/300 Power OIS vs Sony RX10Mk3 vs Nikon P900 vs Lumix FZ330

Many thanks guys. After due consideration :smoke: I've saved myself £1200 and gone for the P900. I'll post a few images after the weekend :t:

Lumix G80 + 100/300 Power OIS vs Sony RX10Mk3 vs Nikon P900 vs Lumix FZ330

Thanks nikonmike and kb57. Ive now had hands on with the Panasonic 100/400 on a GH5 body and also on a GX4. I was blown away by the image quality (at least on the back of the camera) and image stabilisation! Birds in the middle of Titchwell freshmarsh at 400 (800) were easily identifiable I.e...

Lumix G80 + 100/300 Power OIS vs Sony RX10Mk3 vs Nikon P900 vs Lumix FZ330

Looking for some advice please! First and foremost, I am a birder who likes to get record shots of birds and wildlife. I almost never print, content just to look at images on my monitor. A lot of my shots tend to be on wetlands at the long end of the zoom. Current camera for last 4 years Lumix...

Hi Peter I'm in exactly the same dilemma, did you come to any conclusions at BirdFair? Cheers Dave

    Panasonic DMC-FZ300

Am I correct in thinking this camera in the UK is also known as FZ330? I've currently got a well used FZ150. Frustratingly in custom settings the AF area defaults back to a larger AF area when switched off or with a mode change. Did they correct this in the FZ200 and the FZ330? Many thanks Dave

There has been a big and unusual movement of Jays through the Vistula Spit, Poland in the last 10 or so days. maybe this hints of the origin?

What were the times Ray? There was a good movement at Holme NOA and a flock of 28 through Titchwell at 945am Let's hope we get a passage like the one on 6th & 7th Oct 2012 when over 1200 went through Hunstanton. It was awesome!

O2 is hopeless from Brancaster to Old Hunstanton, and along most of the promenade from Hunstanton to Heacham. Titchwell a particular black spot :-(

    Collins bird guide app

Disappointed Disappointed on iPhone but I bet it's good on newer iPads. iPhone...the plates are too small to be useful and the print so small it's virtually impossible to read even with reading specs. You can enlarge the plate but only after tapping through several times and then pinch zooming...
