    Wader - Kent 27.07.14

I can't see pp at all but after another look I tend to agree with you in Common Redshank. At first underparts looked unpatterned but maybe it is just the image quality. It would be extremelty early date for a juv Knot, wouldn't it? An same for winter plumaged bird. Maybe some odd 2cy Knot could...

    Female Stonechat? Gairloch, Scotland

Juvenile Stonechat, don't know if its possible to tell the gender at this early stage, probably not.

    Which Gull? Dunbar, Scotland

    Juvenile Black-headed Gull

Wader ID - Northumberland - Newton + 1 odd non wader

Dunnock is probably adult as the plumage is not too fresh as expected for juveniles at this time of year.

    Ruff

    Wigeon

Good article indeed but actually there is way more variation in female Eurasian Wigeons. Some have very contrasting head pattern with dark mask etc.

    Sound - Sweden

    Sounds like a Great Tit.

white x pied wagtail hybrid? 21.04.2014 konstanz, southern germany

I've learnt to call these kind of individuals hybrids. Can't remember that I've ever seen a term like "white wag with features of pied" used :) Hybrid is relatively straight forward to ID if the bird is adult male. Otherwise it's a minefield.

    Coue's Arctic Redpoll, D&G, Scotland

Could be. We get similar "pale Mealy Redpolls" in Finland regularly, but who knows if they're from Iceland.

    Swift ID from UAE, 14.04.2014.

All of the features you mention are actually only of secondary importance. Head markings (lores, forehead and areas around eye), and contrast in scaling between under tail coverts and rest of the body are much more reliable. This looks typical Pallid for me too.

    Coue's Arctic Redpoll, D&G, Scotland

Rump is ok for Arctic but into other hand those flank streaks are huge and not really fitting Arctic.

    Chiffchaff or Willow Warbler, England

It is Willow Warbler. Strong facial pattern; super and loral stripe, no eye ring. Dark legged WWs are not rare.

    Willow Warbler

    Chiffchaff with short primary projection.

    Yep, Desert Wheatear.

    Israel unidentified birds..

Yes, still Isabelline for me too. Black alula contrasting to paler feather centres in coverts etc. works also.

    Israel unidentified birds..

It's Eastern Bonelli's not Willow, silky white under parts, plain face etc. Isabelline for the wheatear.

    Coue's Arctic Redpoll, D&G, Scotland

I'd say too large bill for Arctic and streaking on flanks also in the Mealy side. Some exilipes are not so obvious but utc's are not showing...

France - Alps, Les Gets: yellowhammers?

The one had probably not heard Serin (or Yellowhammer) because it's really hard to find similarities in their songs. Or it is at least for me. Here is an example of Serin: http://www.tarsiger.com/sounds/index.php?sound_id=mp3_karri1372704395&lang=fin The bird in question is probably some...

    Tawny Pipit

Also thin streaks on flanks (not shown by large pipits sp.).

    Caspian gull?, Latvia

Indeed, I'd have all of these down as argentatus.

    Redpoll sp., UK.

The last picture shows brown rump which would be very unusual for mealy. The first shows contrast between brown chest and white belly so Lesser Redpoll. The color of wingbars is not too good feature as all three, Lesser, Mealy and Arctic (exilipes) can show it.

    Gull id help please

Wingtip is broken and the tail projects behind it. I think it is Herring Gull which has lost it's primary tips and therefore doesn't have any visible black there. Bill and head structure ok for HG also.

Gull in Norwegian Sea, not too far from Tromsø

Ivory Gull can be excluded by the contrast between white tail and pale grey back.

    Willow Warbler or Chiffchaff?

CC for me too. I see short pp in first pic and the legs are looking dark on my screen (but leg color is variable in both species ofc).
