    lost my custum 7x26 :( need a replacement :)

Well, I lost my old (probably early '80) Bushnell costum 7x26. And I realize I'm going to miss them more than I taught (plus they were a souvenir of my father). I really liked the balance between weight, compactness, quality of view, exit pupil and ease of use. Plus they were vintage... (you can...

The most expensive pair of binoculars in history

And you forget bad manoeuver from the main officer on bridge. He called for an emergency stop (full reverse) so the water in front of the rudder lost his consistency. That prevent the ship to turn properly. I remember on an documentary where thay said that the way to deal with an iceberg is full...

    1st bino for kid

Are they young kids? If so I was talking about The Bushnell or Tasco 8x21 or 8x25. They are very cheap. Barely acceptable view but, like I said, they makes great toys. Later, if one of them is interested, just buy somehting more decent.

    1st bino for kid

10x vs 8x you lose a lot: - less light into the binoculars (eg. 21mm/10 = 2,1 mm exit pupil and 21mm/8 = 2,65 mm so you gain 0,5 mm of exit pupil) - normally narrower field of vew - most peoples find it hard to have a stable view above 8x. While very cheap, you can see somethng in those bins...

    1st bino for kid

Hello, Honestly, for that kind of purpose, those 8x21 cheap Bushnell or Tasco binoculars are well suited IMO. Don't buy the 10x models. In a few years, if he is still interested, buy him a pair of 6x30 or something, like the leupold Yosemite.

My first pair of binoculars (Urgent)

djalmant, In my opinion, you are not making a decision based on what is important. Like waterproofness, none of the above products are "fragile". So except if you plan some exceptional rough manipulation of your binoculars, you should not be worry about that. Normally, you should choose the...

My first pair of binoculars (Urgent)

I suggest you go with porro binoculars when going for low budget. I've done it (Legend 8x42 porro) and don't regret it. h2o is a model of bushnell. The porro a decent but the prism are so-so. Too bad my spanish is bad.

My first pair of binoculars (Urgent)

Let me quote someone in this forum: "For low budget binoculars, best price/performance are with porro". Something I agree (IMHO). Of course you do what you want. Also, even the h2o are nitrogen purged so don't worry about that.

My first pair of binoculars (Urgent)

Can you clarify that? Because all the models he mentioned and the legend I suggested are waterproof. If the Monarch are more waterproof (if this is what you mean), I don't think it should be a criteria (IMHO). Hell, I got the old Bushnell custum 7x26 wich are not waterproof and never got a...

My first pair of binoculars (Urgent)

I'll go with Bushnell legend 8x42 porro. If weight or budget is an issue, I'll go with Nikon Action porro. That is if you don't have a good deal on something else. To be honest, all the models you mentioned are good. Too bad you cannot go choose yourself because it is important.

    Lightweight binoculars

Many options: Harness or a better strap for your actual 10x42. A full size with smaller magnification (eg. 7x36) or a mid-size 8x32. A compact binocular (eg. 7x26 reverse porro) IMO, I would start with a harness so you can still use your binoculars if you like them. You might want to search...

    porro vs reverse porro

Ah, didn't expect that but it's logical.

    porro vs reverse porro

Is there any disavantage of reverse porro over porro? Less 3D perception? Because technically, the advantages, disavantages over roof should be the same.

    The bino$ que$tion

Sincerly, I reeeealy hope you don't understand on purpose what I have repeatedly said and explained... And I'm not talking of my signature... Maybe I should say somehting totally stupid like: "anything below the most expensive Swarovski is a piece of s*** and it is absolutely impossible to have...

    What do we want? (Zen)

My next wish is a 7x32 or 8x32 small enough to go in the gloves box in the car. Good quality but not too expensive. That would complete my 7x26 and 8x42.

    The bino$ que$tion

Yeah, I think it's obvious that I mean low part of low-price binoculars. Lets say anything below the H2O series but it's my example. Someone might take another model. Specially since there is no clear cuts between categories. For me, low-cost is below 200 $cdn (~150 $us).

    The bino$ que$tion

I think it's time to clarify a few things here. And I'm talking to everybody (and none in particular). Does a cheap binocular prevent you to have good time? No Does a more expensive binocular allow you to have a better view therefore enjoying more your binoculars and the moment you spend with...

    The bino$ que$tion

I'm going to talk to you the way you talk to others. If you cannot see better in different quality of binoculars, maybe you should be concern about your visual limitation... When I do blind tests to peoples, there is a correlation between peoples appreciation of what they see and the quality of...

    The bino$ que$tion

I beg do differ. Define "the moment"? For birding, that moment is highly due to identifying the bird. A thing that is more easy to do with better binoculars. Seeing a bird is one thing, seeing it well is another. Don't make me wrong. It's just a question of frequency. That means yes, you will...

    The bino$ que$tion

Honestly there is little snobbing in birding optics. Sure some peoples are just show-off with their Swarosky but if you compare that to cars, really it's nothing. I think peoples can be happy with a low cost bino. Hell, I am with my Bushnell legen porro. But If I could afford a better one, I...

    Good Low Cost Compact Bino?

Ok and what about something in the in the 6x and 7x? I hear good things about the papillo 6,5x25. Bushnell has a 7x26 wich is very good but not waterproof. That doesn't stop me to carry them for backpacking. Honestly, for compacts, it's a very good idea to go with less than 8x.

    Bushnell Legend 8x42 porro weight

We also sell the Nikon at the store. They are of cheaper quaility (still a good price/performance, like pretty much all Nikon binoculars) over the Bushnell. Normal, they are cheaper.

    Bushnell Legend 8x42 porro weight

I remember mine were stiff very early on. Seemed like grease had to be "breaked up". It didn't last long but they are still a bit on the stiff side. Honestly my only real drawback are the eyecup that twist very easily. I frequently have to replace them. But for that class of binocular I would...

Anyone used the Elite e2 Custom Compact 7x26?

A picture is worth a thousand words... The AR is definately blue (slightly purple). Body seems to be all metal with black leatherette. Actually they are over 20 yers old. So they are most probably the first release. I use them as a sale argument to push peoples to buy more decent binoculars...
