    Hi all

Long time no see, I doubt I still know anyone around here (or anyone remembers me :P ) We finally - after some very taxing Globe hopping in the last 2 years - have settled in the US of A, Texas to be more precise. Hope to be around more often come Spring and get back into birding. I miss it :-)...

    Siskin? Mayen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany

I know, the photos more than suck, not much I can do :-( By some dark heads and yellow spots at the wings, rumps and tails I figured this might be Siskins though. Any takers? Thanks for trying & B (: Nicole

What duck? River Mosel, near Cochem, Germany

LOL, thanks everyone! I had an eye on the Egyptian fellow, but thought it couldn't be :-) I think it kind of funny that I see one in Germany, instead of Egypt :-) @MJB Have been in the vineyards that day. It will be a little while still until the wines for 2012 are ready, hehe :-) Never tried a...

    Birding sites near Koln?

@Ori The river should be a good place to start. There usually are park areas along the rhine. Not 100% sure about the Layout of Cologne. Did you try to check google maps? (If nobody else has any ideas) @Xenospiza Parakeets? Really? Wouldn't have thought we have those here in Germany.

    Hello from Landstuhl, Germany

Welcome aboard! I've seen one Black Woody here near my hometown last autumn (Mayen, Eifel). But my first and only so far. Good Luck!

    Weird Chaffinch (?), Germany

Hi there, have seen this Chaffinch couple doing the spring thing in April. Sorting through the photos today, I think that the male looks a bit strange. Greenish back, big white shoulder patch and the yellow patch on the wing. Maybe I am having a dumb moment, so be easy on me ;-) B (: Nicole

Hi folks, things have changed again (why does that not surprise me?) :-( If anyone knows a job for a very decent hard working man with mechanical background on a Ranch, let me know,... :-)

    Book suggestions

Again, thanks everyone! @Lisa - I guess I will go with more than one book anyway. We will, hopefully, stay there long term, so it will be worth it :-) @Chris - I've lived two years in Kuwait. Two summers there with temps up to 55C and some humidity and dust for good measure. I don't really...

    Book suggestions

Sadly I won't get there before my Immigration Visa has come through - possibly another 7 months. But maybe they'll be there next year :-) Cool, any help and Info is welcome! Thanks for all the help! :-) And yeah, I was really surprised to see that there's so much variety and that the area we...

    Birding sites near Koln?

Your chances for a Black Woodpecker in the Eifel are pretty good. I've seen my first (and so far only) around here. The other two not yet (but I haven't been in the parks). Hope you get some good ideas for areas. Would love to suggest some, but haven't been traveling around lately. Good Luck!
