    UK Gull ID

I'm OK on the second bird but any ideas on the Gull - not very good with these - especially from this angle. This is on Mull - there were Common, Herring, Greater Black Backed around (and probably more).

    Robin behaviour

I have I rather aggressive Robin in the garden at the moment. So far this morning he has chased of the Nuthatch and a Blue Tit from the seed feeder! He struggles to eat rom the feeder as I have squirrel guards on them and the Robin won't perch, only try to hover and grab a bite. I wonder if...

    Redwing? - UK

Hi, I think these are Redwing? I have quite a few of these birds flying around in the woods behind the flat this morning feeding off berries. They are moving about with some perching up in the higher branches for a bit. This is in Middx. Could only manage this dodgy photo.

    Green Woodpecker - UK

Hi, I am sure it is a Green Woodpecker, but I am wondering is it a juvenile due to the spots? Taken in my garden on Sunday enjoying the sunshine, have not seen one in the garden before but I have seen them on my local reserve about 5 miles away. If this is a juvenile would they have been...

    Tripod head for scope

Hi - I have an Opticron 665 GA Scope and currently use this on my Giottos MTL 9351B Tripod with a Manfrotto 804RC2 Head. I am not particularly happy with the head for the scope (it was bought for photography) and am considering buying a fluid video head. What would be the best option in the...

    Marsh Harrier & Coot

Hey guys, Saw this Harrier attacking the Coot at Dungeness this weekend. My book says they take prey up to the size of ducks and coots but this seems quite large compared to the Harrier? I was wondering how often, and how successfully, they would hunt prey this large? The Harrier took a few...

Hey guys, I want to put up one or two feeders in my garden and am wondering what the best options are. We are near a large area of woodland (and back onto some smaller woods) and I would like to put something in the trees outside my window. The birds I see round here include Woodpigeon...

Not happy, new scope broken already!

I bought a GS 665 GA / 45 Fieldscope along with a 40918S IS eyepiece today and whilst using it this evening there was a breaking noise whilst turning the focus wheel and the sound of a loose part falling inside the scope. The loose part is now rattling around in the scope and the close focus...

Bat found, did we do the right thing?

Hi Guys, We came across a tiny bat (was about as long as my thumb) in a large cardboard box amongst some (of all things) soft toys in plastic wrapping. This was in our scout hut which is used twice a week and the box was left from the weekend, so would have been undisturbed for about 4-5 days...
