Little Auk found dead at Findhorn dunes (500m east from car park, bottom of the very large dune by the path, next to sea) over the weekend, no rings, so left it. NH052648

SNH - Big mistake regarding licencing

After a chat with SNH it appears that there is some confusion with the new regulations and that workers DO NOT have to be or join a RSG. So MODS can this thread be locked or removed as it is no longer relevant please

SNH - Big mistake regarding licencing

Simples, do you have any idea on how political it is with all of these groups (not just RSG) and what SNH are doing is forcing either individual workers or those associated with other groups and already pay annual subscriptions to join yet another group in order to attain a licence. So, if those...

SNH - Big mistake regarding licencing

Clearly you need to 'get over it' as you dont quite understand how unbeneficial this is and how it could create a divide but you happen to pick up on the most unimportant part of the whole thread...reference to an 'office'..jees! I on the other hand do not need to get over anything, simply...

SNH - Big mistake regarding licencing

Just to make people aware that SNH has decided in their wisdom that all raptor workers in Scotland have to join and pay an annual charge to the Scottish Raptor Groups in order to secure a Schedule 1 licence (applied for by a regional rep). To me this is a dreadful move and forces those experts...

Death Toll from Ross-shire poisoning rises to 16!

Update: As of yet the authorities have not stated what poison it was that has decimated the population. Farmers in that area are asking what the autopsy results are, so they may help identify the location of the the culprit substance.

Death Toll from Ross-shire poisoning rises to 16!

http://raptorpersecutionscotland.wordpress.com/2014/04/01/ross-shire-massacre-death-toll-rises-to-16/ This is an absolute outrage, disgusting and I'd like to get my hands on the bastard who did it. We often pass Conan Bridge and it's always nice to see the Kites in the area..not anymore, that...

    Rutland Osprey Project 2014

When i worked with raptors in neighbouring Northants, I often thought why, with the amount of existing reservoirs had there not been additional platform erected. If I had the funding I’d have had additional platforms erected a decade ago in the surrounding counties ;-) Great news though, 5...

    more bad news from Bowland

It staggers me when peple who are 'supposed to know better' do this. Anyone with even an ounce of knowledge of the EO will know that they can be very very prone to nest desertion ...there will be too many wanting to get a glimpse of an EO nest in the wild and visiting the nest site, one for the...

Has that day finally arrived? No breeding hen harriers in England.

Jees, right forget it, quite clearly we are both barking up the wrong tree and debating on different scenerios and I thought texting was bad enoughB (: and....if you search for past posts of mine it would become quite apparent to you that I am all for EO's

Has that day finally arrived? No breeding hen harriers in England.

Doh, I'm not saying that. Start a new thread up on EO's we can debate on that, we are saying the the EO has been made an escape goat for what is happening in Bowland and that the real cause is not EO's.....

Has that day finally arrived? No breeding hen harriers in England.

Your quite right, it is a move or distraction away from the main goings on in Bowland

Has that day finally arrived? No breeding hen harriers in England.

Yes of course but it is not a contributing factor of the demise of HH in England, as per the title of this thread and the very fact that the last couple of pages is discussing EO's. Finger pointing should be elswehere. EO's should have never been raised in the context of this thread. By the way...

I cant believe that Eagle Owls have even been mentioned on this thread, why! Shame on those who have raised it as a factor in the HH demise, incredible:C

does any BOP take adult mink? that you know of?

If an Eagle Owl hit a mink at speed, I think it would be good night Mr Mink. If you work out the NM of a 3.5kg bird travelling at 35mph it will give you an idea of the force hitting the prey (and thats before it exerts it's crushing grip)....have you ever felt the crushing power on Eagles, Owls...
