Swarovski NL Pure 8x32 vs CL Companion 8x30

These days, I use the CL Companion 8X30s more frequently than any other. It is small, handy, and offers a fine, sharp, and contrasty view. The NL Pure 8x32s are bigger, have far better ergonomics, and are indeed excellent. While birding with the CLs, I don't think I miss much. Arijit

    Lee Thickett (Troubador) - R.I.P.

This is such a sad thing to hear. His musings over optics is what kept bringing me back to the forums. devastating news. My prayers are with his family and friends. May the Almighty give them the time and space to come to terms with this loss. This community, I am sure, will miss him immensely...

    Pentax Ad 7x32 ED Binocular

I tried this one today. Not bad, CA certainly not a problem. Could it have been brighter and sharper? Will come back in a couple of days.

    Pentax Ad 7x32 ED Binocular

If I had to, I would look at the SD 7x42. If it is anything like their ZDEDs, it should be good, no nonsense pair.

    New 7X Bins

I use a ZD ED. Its build quality is as good as it gets. The field is clean, sharp and very well corrected for aberrations. A fine birding tool - not seen such quality in anay of the plastic Nikons yet

    Eurasian Scops Owl

Thought it was a Pallid Scops Owl. However, was suggested that the rufous on the facial disk and black tips to the scapulars indicate them as Eurasian Scops Owl. Small, slender, dark grey.

Eurasian Scops Owl or Pallid Scops Owl?

We have the Rufous Morph here as of now. This one is a smaller more slender owl with yellow eyes. The scapular feathers seem to have black tips and slight rufous edges. Am indeed confused. The Eurasian is supposed to be an ‘autumn migrant’.

    Zeiss SFL 8x30?

Those with small hands will enjoy the 30mm SFLs thoroughly. They are good bins for birding. Someone mentioned the HT. The 8x54 HT is bright allright. I was watching a Koel yesterday. In good light, the red eyes were bright enough to hurt. The HT 54mm with it's large objectives and transmission...

    Zeiss SFL 8x30?

This is what three binoculars felt in my hands. The SFL 10x30 is small. Two fingers around the barrel with my medium sized hands. Index finger came straight on the focuser. Pinky gets to dangle. The Swarovski CL 8x30B a good solid three finger grip. Focuser easy on the index finger. SF 8x32 -...

    SFL 10X30

I totally agree here. Bland comparisons lead to bland findings. In Birdforum a majority of members are nature observers. In that genre, these small SFLs will perform very well. I was totally happy with seeing Coromandel Marsh Dart Damselflies mating above the pond and bees busying about winter...
