    Bird Song

Whilst out cycling this morning I heard a Mistle Thrush singing its heart out. It reminded me that now is a good time to listen to songs of our resident UK species. As we slip into the new year several species will begin to sing particularly if we have some nice sunny days. Listen to songs...

    Winter visitors to the UK

    Indigo-winged Parrot

I read an interesting snippet in the Daily Express yesterday. It seems a group of scientists exploring 10,000ft up in the Colombian Andes have found a flock of 14 Indigo-winged Parrots. It went on to say that the species was thought to have been extinct for about 91 years. This is exciting...

    Killer Seal Virus

Anyone offering this expensive seed? I know of a couple who have a small town garden in north Norfolk and last winter they had a flock of 60 Goldfinches regualrly feeding on Niger. It was placed loose on a very low table and in a specialist niger seed feeder. Ihave tried it occasionaly but...

    Butterfly

Walking in Norfolk today 11/08. Spotted a brilliant yellow butterfly, fairly fast mover, not loafing like the whites and browns. It was about the size of a small white. Did not notice any markings as it was moving so quickly. Any ideas please? Was it a Clouded Yellow?? burhinus

    Conservation Headlands

It is really pleasing to see a major increase in the number of fields around the Brecks with conservation headlands. Some of the larger landowners are really getting to grips with this. We have always managed to have decent sized winter finch flocks biut this should make things even better...
