    Leica HD's light transmission figure?

:h?: Please explain? -Scatter of light as it passes through the lens elements, -Transmission of certain wavelengths of the electromagmetc spectrum due to lens coatings, and -Reflection of light off the lenses. Don't these all contribute to trasmission values? I may be wrong, it seems with...

    Leica HD's light transmission figure?

Light transmission values are one thing but the visibality of colors are another. On paper the Zeiss and Swaros have the edge in low light however I belive leicas have colors that pop in comparison. I suppose it depends on the use at dawn and dusk where colors don't mean as much transmission...

Allbinos review of the Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD

Gee I was only joking. I stoped the thread pretty quick lol. I really do dissagree with the scores for CA, Distortion and Coma they should each be at least one or two points higher. I passed up the 10x and chose the 8x as thay were 'nicer' optically. Mind you my suspicions suggest the quality...

Allbinos review of the Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD

Intresting review. I own a pair of the 8x40HD's and I mostly agree with the reviewer. The scores in regards to the CA, Distortion and Coma are pretty low.

    When a new Leica binocular?

I bought my 8x40 Ultravid HD's after trying all the Alphas, I had no previous bias as this was my first pair of 'quality' binocular. My decision was a compromise. Optical performance is high on the list of criteria, so is weight, size, ruggedness and longterm durability. I rejected the Swaro and...

    Untravid?

When I had my one 'no limit budget' to purchase a 'do it all alpha', I went with the 8X42 Ultravid HD's. I was very tempted by the 32mm types due to size and weight, I was very close to buying a pair of Zeiss 8x32's. The 42's twlight ability won me over. I lugged around a pair of Leica Geovid...

In search of a Bino Harness

I have been looking intensively for a way to carry my binoculars afield. I do allot of climbing over and going under barbed wire fences as well as scree slopes, rock faces and general traversing. After trying a harness I was still not happy with the ergonomics or the level of protection it...

    Alpha warranty

From previous experience with importing optics to Australia. There is no customs duty here on optics. However there is a 10% GST on itens over AUD$1000. From the Swarovski WWW http://www.swarovskioptik.com/upload/media/media/34/garantie_el42sv_en%5B1411%5D.pdf From my synthesis of the...

    Alpha warranty

Hello all, I am in the market for some high end binoculars and was thinking of purchasing from the USA. High end binoculars are overpriced here in Australia with a pair of new Swarovision EL's selling between AUD$3200 - $3600. With the Aussie dollar almost hitting parity with the USD I was...
