Chat / Redstart ID please. Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India

Need some help ID this bird which I saw on 8th Jan 24. It sat like a chat, but I am not sure what it is. The area it was in was a scrub patch next to a lake (Achankulam lake). Thanks for your help. Jaysan p.s. Just to add, there was a male pied bushchat near by. Could this be a female?

Lesser sand plover? Pulicat lake, TN, india.

Hello, I saw these plovers at Pulicat Lake, Tamil Nadu, India. I'm not sure of the ID, though i feel they might be lesser sand plovers. They were far away and I attach a couple of digiscoped images. Also, it appears that the nomenclature has changed to Tibetian/Siberian/Mongolian sand...

Gull ID please - Musselburgh, Scotland

It looked too bulky to be a lesser black backed gull to me. It was more herring gull size (comparing to the ones at the back). But guess the colour is darker. So I am beginning to think LBB now. Have never seen an LBB with a ring on the bill and the white at the tip. Learning as I go...

Gull ID please - Musselburgh, Scotland

It was amongst a large group of common gulls maplekong. I thought there were one or two herring gulls, but they were resting and I could not get a proper view of them.

Gull ID please - Musselburgh, Scotland

Hello, Based on the size, I wondered if this was a slightly darker herring gull, but the legs were yellow. It looked too big to be a lesser black backed gull. It has a dark ring on the bill and a white tip. The red patch can also be seen on the lower bill, so its on its way to becoming an adult...

    mp3 no.4 please

Are you referring to the first of the two wav files in the email at 6.38 PM? If so, I have not heard that call either. So useful to know. The calls in your recordings sound slightly different to the ones we have further North. Guess its regional variation.
