    Hundreds of Hawk Owls!

    We have now huge numbers of migrating Hawk Owls. During last 7 days 530 observations have been saved to Finnish bird observation database. Some of the observations of course are from same individuals. Inside my local patch has been already 10 individuals!

    Fake faces on birds

    Crested Tits seems to have fake face on back of their head. White area forms background for this face. Dark spots in back of the head make large eyes and tip of the crest is beak. Predtors will get impression of staring bird. Have you noticed this? Many owls have these too.
