Bird ID, seen in Northern Alberta today

This bird was seen in a field today. First glance, Snow Bunting. But the markings seem different. Wing bars, different markings on the chest. We are now thinking White Wagtail. Thoughts?

    Birding Injury

Hey all I am from Canada's far north, and haven't done much birding at all this winter. It's been a really cold one; 6 species on my Christmas Bird Count. Anyways, I just spent a week down in Texas doing some excellent birding. Up at 5:30 every morning, not getting home until around 8:30. A...

    Northern or loggerhead shrike?

Honestly, at first glance, I thought the first bird was a Northern Shrike, with the second being a Loggerhead Shrike. The black mask on the second bird is noticeable above the beak, and extends through the top of the eye. This is not the case for the first bird. My two cents, but these...

    Unknown Duck, Nunavut

Hi all I read this article on cbc.ca (the Canadian public news) http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/story/2012/11/23/north-kugluktuk-duck.html There is a duck that is clearly a little confused up there, but I can't necessarily ID it. Any help?

Snow Bird Print? - Sask Canada

I'm not sure how it could be a grouse, if there aren't any grouse tracks. This seems very much like an owl wing imprint to me.

North America: summer plumage Ptarmigans (rock and willow)

I agree. Both are Willow. Rock Ptarmigan doesn't poke its head into the Northern part of Manitoba until the winter.

    eastern united states, junco?

Not true. I was actually born with a life-list in my hand. Interestingly enough, Passenger Pigeon was 1 of 119 species checked off on the list. It still remains a mystery.

ID by song - "CHEE-fo-TEE-TEE" SW Pennsylvania - Now with audio.

Stonechat, there definitely is a Northern Cardinal at 5 seconds. But there is a Chee-fo-tee-tee as jocelyn mentions at that time as well, just very quiet and in the background. It does sound to me like an alternate song of a White-throated Sparrow....but not 100% either.

Bird I.D.- U.S.A- Utah- please help

It looks like a juvenile American Robin to me. As for feeding it, it you eat some worms then regurgitate them into its mouth........ But really, I don't know what you should feed it.

An update: It's the scolding call of a Hermit Thrush! Always learning, always learning.

    Name that song, Alberta!

Agreed. I just can't think of anything else it could be. Like I said a month ago or so, birding up here is pretty awesome, as there are constantly 'unexpected' species making an appearance due to the lack of research done in the area.

    Name that song, Alberta!

I've been hearing a song very similar (pretty much dead-on!) to a Varied Thrush here in Garden River (the west side of Wood Buffalo National Park). Does anyone know if there is a bird that has a song similar to this, or another bird that can mimic the Varied Thrush? I did see it fly quickly...
