    Ecuador Elaenia sp?

I photographed this bird on August 18 at WildSumaco lodge in Ecuador. WildSumaco is in Napo on the east slope at an altitude of about 1500 m. Small-billed versus White-crested? Per eBird, Small-billed is more commonly reported, for whatever that may be worth. I have absolutely no experience...

    Costa Rica Elaenias

I had originally marked these down as Yellow-bellied Elaenias, seen in March 2014 at the La Amistad Lodge (south CR, next to Panama border). Could they be Lesser Elaenia? First two pics are same bird. Third pic is same area, but about 40 minutes later, so it may or may not be the same bird...

    Ducks in Hawaii

Pictures taken yesterday in Waikiki, HI, at Kapiolani Park. How can I tell when I have a hybrid duck vs. a relatively pure Hawaiian Duck? Pretty sure #2 must be a hybrid with that yellow bill. How about #1?

    Gull from California, USA

Saw this gull yesterday in inland southern California at San Jacinto Wildlife Area. Bird in question is just left of center, with the dark iris. Unfortunately these are the only pictures I have (no shots of the primaries available). I'd like to call it a Thayer's Gull, but am hesitant based...

    Another So Cal flycatcher

Here are two pics of the same bird seen at Whitewater preserve in So Cal. This one seems to have a longer bill than I expected for Hammond's, but does seem to have a long primary projection. According to Sibley's, Dusky should have a short primary projection, but based on the photos I've seen...

    So Cal flycatcher - Hammond's?

Here are two pictures from yesterday at Morongo Valley in Southern California. They are from about 5 minutes apart in the same general area, so they may or may not be the same bird. I am thinking Hammond's due to the small bill and long primary projection.

    Gnatcatcher from Arizona, USA

I saw this Gnatcatcher within the last week at Patagonia Lake in SE Arizona. Unfortunately I am not great with remembering calls, but was wondering if Black-capped Gnatcatcher could be confirmed? This was in the same area (Nutting's wash) where it is currently being reported. Thanks.

    Empid from Arizona, USA.

Looking for help with ID on this silent empid seen in SE Arizona within the last week, specifically in Florida Wash near Madera Canyon. I also did not notice any distinct tail wag. All three pics are of the same bird. Thanks!

    Chicago Warbler

Saw this bird in Chicago, USA, about 3 weeks ago. With input from others I've called it a Connecticut Warbler, but yet I still feel a bit uneasy. Any further input for Connecticut vs. Mourning Warbler would be appreciated!

    Southern California mountain hummingbirds

Please help identify these female/juvenile hummingbirds seen near Lake Arrowhead, CA, USA. Unfortunately there were not adult male birds around to make the IDs any easier... Having a hard time telling Rufous/Allen's, or possible Calliope. 1. Two pictures of the the same bird.

    Sparrow in Southern California

I have three pictures of the same bird from the Riverside area of California (inland Southern CA), taken about a week ago.

I took all these pictures today in Morongo Valley (Southern California, near Joshua Tree National Park). These first three pictures are of different individuals (are they even the same species)?

Few more from Southern Portugal and Spain

After getting back from the trip a couple weeks ago, I've stumbled across a few more that I'd appreciated some help with identifying. 1. Was focusing on the Red-crested Pochard, but originally didn't notice the duck in the background, so unfortunately I don't have any better pics. Is this...

    Algarve Larks

First, thanks to all for helping identify and providing additional extra information on the Short-toed Eagle. These are three different Larks that I have seen over the last 3 days. My working theory is Crested, but being completely new to these birds, and knowing there are subtle differences...

    Raptor in Algarve, Portugal

Hi, I am a relatively new birder from America, but happen to be in Portugal in vacation. I've got several birds that could use some help identifying, but I'll start with this one for now. Wasn't sure about the reddish coloration on the belly, but my guess would be Short-toed Eagle...
