    Greetings from Norway

Just a small sign of life from Norway: This piece is a combination of watercolour and drypoint printing. I found the printing technique quite fun to work with - might give it another shot.

Your latest paintings are brilliant! I especially enjoyed the Shoveler and the Little Grebes on the previous page.

    New field studies

The doves are beautiful. They are the most accessible field study motives where I live, but I have never taken the time. I see now that I should!

    Greetings from Norway

I should think it's about time to get out of hibernation! Living in Norway definately has it's advantages, but the winter is long for a field sketcher. Here in Oslo, the avian signs of spring are still very scarce, although I guess the blackbirds I saw this morning might be new arrivals. The...

    New field studies

Beautiful, as always! For those of you who haven't seen it, you should check out Paschalis on youtube, where he is painting a Tawny Owl in the field. Outstanding stuff!

    Uist Garden Birds

Beautiful Harlequin! Like Tim, I would give much to see this one in the wild, and I definately can't expect to see it from my sitting room.

    Great Horned Owl drawing

Lovely scene! The grosbeak is a striking piece of art. I like the way it blends in with the environment.

    Alan Dalton-Birdart from the Basement

Great work, Alan. The norwegian name for the Fieldfare is "Grey Thrush", and it really doesn't describe the bird well. I also loved the Snow Buntings in a previous post. Keep it up!

    Wootton Art 2013

I have really enjoyed your posts over the last months, your work just improves all the time. The Wigeons in your last post are fantastic!

    A couple of watercolours

Very nice work indeed! By the way, your weather is on the news here in Norway today, and it looks bad even for us. A real test for the Wheatear, I should think...

    Colonel Boris' scruffy old sketchpad.

The lapwings are beautiful. It's a sight I'm really longing for here in the cold north.

    Field sketches

Thank you all for encouraging comments! Mayoayo: I think he said "what is this bloke doing without a camera?" That is one thoroughly photographed owl. Where did you learn Norwegian, by the way??
