    Santiago, Chile - Brown/Beige job

Can't seem to find a match for this one. Parque Bicentenario December 2023 Any help appreciated.

Young Harris? Costanera Sur, Buenos Aires

Is this a young Harris Hawk? (First time back here since 2012, the place has changed beyond all recognition!)

    Accipiter Denver Colorado

Leaning towards Sharp-Shinned, but I'm a long way from home! Any clarification gratefully received.

    Early Egyptian Goslings?

2 very young chicks with parents in Little Venice, London on Saturday! Is this a bit early or normal for city behaviour? I presume the average temperature is higher in London than out in the sticks?

    Magpie nesting?

Just seen a Magpie fly over my garden carrying a large twig, surely not nesting? What else would it be doing with it?

    UK - Merlin?

Vague moustache, short "stubby" appearance and heavily streaked chest - is it a Merlin? Somerset wetland/farmland habitat.
  7. Keebs

    UK Kingfisher feather?

Seems most likely given the size and location found - a cobweb below an outfall at a lake.

    Little Owls? (audio only) UK

Heard two birds constantly, probably every 20 seconds or so as they moved around calling in the trees behind me just after dark. I'm assuming Little Owls as they don't sound like Tawnies or Barnies, but they also don't quite match the audio on Xeno Canto so thought I'd check here. I could not...

    Jumper ID - UK

This is the third species of jumper I've found in the garden this week, but I can't find an ID for it. The nearest I've found online body-wise is a Sun Jumper but the palps and legs are the wrong colour.

    Sydney - Centennial or Botanical?

Last-minute off-chance question... Got a day off here on Wednesday 18th before I go home - any local up-to-date opinion on which for a photographing trip? I'm leaning towards Centennial because I've been before, 8 years ago and will probably remember some good spots within, but I've just...

    HELP - CF card disaster!

So after shooting over 9Gb this morning, using my usual card reader to transfer the files to my MacBook - it wouldn't mount. After a couple of failed attempts I put the card back in the camera and now that doesn't see the shots either. Now both MacBook and camera show the capacity as 23Gb -...

    Willow Emerald?

Confirmation would be great :-) https://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/626902/ppuser/97605 Edit: After a bit of Googling I'm pretty convinced that this is a male Willow Emerald. (No "clubbed" tail and short appendages)

    Dragonfly pupa?

Those eyes and head look the part. Sat on a reed about a foot above the waterline. Don't recall seeing one before.

    UK feather ID

Woodland next to large lake. I picked this up thinking Tawny Owl but I can't find a match for it online. Feels very soft to the touch.

    Herons secreting amino acids?

I've a suspicion I know the answer here, but has anyone heard of this? I can't a find a mention of it anywhere (else!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-eod7Mpbtc&feature=youtu.be&list=PLWRwBsPQd8vti25ZF1LKkyIK_5Ufxr1N6&t=20

Bird of prey - Tel Aviv (No picture)

Spotted on the road to the airport, along the Ayalon River. Looked to be buzzard sized, (short viewing from a moving vehicle so...?) Only seen from above when it banked, it had a very striking upper wing pattern, bands of dark brown(or black) red, and white with very definite edges to them...

    Chile Austral Thrush juvs?

Seeing as both have remnants of gape I presume the first is a juvie and the second is an older juvie, moulting into adulthood, head last?

    Buenos Aires - Swallow?

    White rumped swallow juv?

    Treecreeper - Madrid

Casa de Campo Not a great shot I'm afraid, too distant. Common? Short-toed? Too little detail to tell? Hind claw feels short to me, maybe just wishful thinking for a first!

    Black Vulture? Near Madrid

About 4 or 5 of them came circling in low over a petrol station.

    Opticron Binoculars, focussing problem.

Just wanted to check on here before going back to Opticron. I recently bought a pair of Opticron Explorer Binoculars and thoroughly checked the actual purchased pair before leaving the shop. They were brilliant and the image sharp as a tack. A few weeks later I noticed that they were no longer...

    Bee? Caterpillar maybe? UK.

Hiding in a hole in old brickwork in the back garden. Thought it was a Mason Bee at first but the face is wrong. Photo lightened quite a bit to show inside the dark tunnel.

    Canon 1D4 battery calibration

Since buying a spare battery for my 1D4 every time either battery runs down (I'm alternating them to spread the use) the camera recommends that it should be calibrated on the next charge. Both batteries have now been calibrated using the LC-E4 charger but the camera is still recommending...

    Mipit? UK farmland.

Pretty certain it was a Meadow Pipit when it flew into this tree but looking at the pic I'm a bit confused by the apparently very yellow bill. Probably photo artefact from the strong sunlight but wanted to check. Thanks in advance
