    Just to show the zoom on my SX50 HS here are two photos taken from a hide at Rutland water of some Cormorants in a tree. The second photo is the zoomed shot of the Cormorant in the middle of the tree. Rather a gloomy day, but I was happy with the results.

    Certainly doesn't sound right? Mine doesnt do that. Have you tried reducing the zoom with the adjuster on the top, as it could be sticking?

    It should go to line 24 on the top of the lens, if it doesn't I would suggest it may be faulty.
