    I find the trouble with wide angle for landscapes is that you get a thin crinkly line across the middle and acres of sky above with acres of tiny, tiny, things below. I've spent the last year shooting almost exclusively with a Canon 100-400 MkII handheld after years of shooting a 500 f4 MkI from a tripod and the difference in speed...
