    I'm certain sure it's within the wit of commerce to fix that problem - and I doubt that it is one. I've bought Kindle books that are (functionally) the same as a PDF but I have no means of giving them to someone else.

    Weird, innit. Despite various discussions of this subject within these pages I still find it mysterious that (at least) a straightforward PDF is not produced and made freely available for every f/g purchaser. I suspect, ultimately (and obviously), it's the profit-motive operating - but exactly...
