The observer stated that this was only a possible. From the description of the occurrence it's extremely unlikely.

The easiest place to see Choughs is Southerly Point, at the tip of the Lizard peninsula (SW701115). There is an RSPB watchpoint there (and a good cafe where you can sit and watch the birds). Next month the female will be on eggs and the male will be coming in every half hour or so.

I know exactly what you mean Colin and I always have the same dilemma. I suppose I'm a birder first and an opportunist photographer second. These days I often take the camera and carry my little lightweight Nikon scope in my pocket, especially if I'm with Dougy and he is carrying his scope...

Great photos there Colin. How are you getting so close to these birds? Are you using a hide? Andy

Bitterns galore at Loe Pool today. Well.......at least two! We disturbed one along the stream between Lower Nansloe and the pool, then saw one flying back up the Cober being chased by a Grey Heron, followed by one in the reeds near the hide (must have been different) and finally maybe the same...

Hi John I have found Silver-washed on the Lizard (many years ago) and had one in my garden near Helston more recently. Are there any other West Cornwall sites? Andy

First Gropper of the Spring at Windmill Farm this weekend but precious little else there. Green Sand on the Lizard this morning. Hats off to the person who is providing daily reports from Newlyn Harbour in April. Top effort ;)

Thanks Colin. Do you know who reported the Gyr? Is it possible that it is a non-birder who has misidentified the harrier??

A very odd-looking bird Colin. Looks Iceland Gull size, i.e. a little smaller than Herring? Do you know anything about the Gyr at Porthcothan?

I was by no means the only person who took your comment "the wrong way". It was crass. As I have remarked before, subtlety is not your strong point. My apology wasn't intended for you. If I feel that I want to apologise to other readers of this thread, then I will.

    Cornwall Birding

Yes I know I said that was my last word, but I just want to apologise for my part in the unsavoury slanging match. Conorbirder's response to my post simply drawing attention to the CBWPS forum just angered me and then I got drawn in. Sorry folks.

Have a read through this thread for an insight into the realities of being voluntary warden of a reserve: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=41330&highlight=windmill+farm It's very easy to say all news should be immediately publicised. That is the policy UNLESS there is a risk of undue...

Paul, your tongue seems to be permanently stuck in your cheek, except when you're sticking it out at other people. I apologise (yes Paul, there is such a word) for not acknowledging your CBWPS updates. Nevertheless I still think that to publicly denigrate the efforts of another committee member...

Well I think it's good to support our local society, don't you Paul? Especially if you're a committee member. Aren't you a committee member? No doubt you'll correct me if I'm wrong. It's not challenging BF, just as your own site doesn't challenge Birdguides or RBA. It's just a local...
