I rarely use my 1dx the shutter sound is just to loud I often get myself down a ditch, canal or slues in camo gear or make shift hide the 7d mkII on silent 5fps (not silent ) but with care some birds just except the sound and keep coming . The 1dx will scare them off way before they are close... -

I use single point most of the time sometimes expand to 4 around the centre but zone or all points is only used in a clear sky and only on small fast birds, to me zones or all is too hit and miss . Rob. -

I set my 7 at 7fps but if out in my gillie suite down a bank I set 4fps in silent mode its one of the main reasons I got the camera . Rob. -

I would think its heat haze you can even get it in cold weather and across water ,the further away your subject the worst it is . Rob. -

I like to edged my bets ,im always in AI SERVO and will take shots of a perch bird like that if one just turns up however I will then go to one shot and spot focus to take a few more Then I go back to AI servo just it case said bird takes off This way I have hopefully got the best I can and am... -

Barred Wobbler. I know we all have our own way of doing things but on the shots you posted If I was in AI servo I would take a few shots then change to spot focus even on the slow drifting boat . By pumping the shutter button it may have given a more accurate focus than AI servo . Just my... -

Now on 954 raw shots some raw +jpeg and 31% left I'm quite pleased with that as I sometimes leave the camera on over night. I do have that gps thing turned off. Rob. -

I just did a few more test's and on a static subject 7dmkII without tc and 1dx with a tc so it's a ( close FOV ) To me its so close if I was out and had the same lens on both camera's I would not be picking one over the other and this is on a dull day . I think it would be neck and neck on a... -

Just a quick test both the 3rd shot in a burst using one shot af, The 1dx has been resized up to about the 7d mkII size Target about 100ft away dull day 1/3200 sec f5.6 iso 4000 600f4isL MKII +1.4tc for both shots Over all with a series of shots the 1dx is better with no drift at all it... -

I wonder if they are going on say a 50 f1.8 as it would not take as much power to focus as a larger tele. Just a thought. Rob.
