APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

Surprisingly quiet here ... I thought there were more people here interested in what is a pretty rare binocular nowadays: A pretty decent, quite well made 6x30 porro. Sure, it's not an alpha, but it's certainly no slouch optically. Anyway, I'm still quite happy with my APMs. No problems at...

APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

The accessories: I normally don't care about the acessories at all. I usually prefer to use different straps and so on that fit my needs: Rainguard: It's too tight to put on and take off quickly. No problem, there are plenty of suitable rainguards on the market. I use an old Nikon rainguard...

APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll check if I can get Gorilla glue over here. However, for the time being I'm quite happy with my rubber rings. These were widely available for binculars of different sizes (30mm, 40mm and 50mm) and were used a lot on the objectives of unarmoured binoculars...

APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

Same with my two specimens. They are also identical, I couldn't find any differences no matter how hard I looked. The finish is very nice indeed, really impressive. In fact, I've handled some alpha binoculars with a worse finish in the past few years. I couldn't find any weaknesses. I agree...

APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

The field of view of the APM is wider. Check the factsheet. That difference is obvious in the field, although the APM isn't a wideangle binocular with an AFOV of 60 degrees or more. The focussing isn't as stiff (the Habicht has one of the stiffest focusers I ever came across). Other than that...

APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

A quick update: After >20 hours in the field with the APM I'm quite impressed. I'm still not ready for a full review, but I fully concur with Pinacs review on Cloudynights (APM 8x30 ED and 6x30 Porro Binoculars (Prototypes) - Binoculars - Cloudy Nights). Some of the points Pinac noted have been...

APM Telescopes Release Of The APM MS 6x30 Porro Prism Binocular

I got my 6x30 today. Took only two days ... 👍 First impressions are very favourable. I'll do a full review once I had enough time with the 6x30. That may take four weeks or so, I don't believe in posting reviews before I know the binoculars well. Hermann

Well, no. I don't think so. I should have mine early next week. Hermann

I mailed Markus about the "not enough in stock message". Was just a problem with the shop. Works now, I just placed my order ... :-) Hermann
