Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

I have somewhere, a b&w photo of PZ865 that I took circa 1964/5 at Biggin Hill. She was taxying through the crowd - yes through the crowd, from her static display position to runway! Can you imagine H&S letting that happen today :eek!: At that time she wore her "Last of the Many" signature

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

Hurricane Z5140 spent the weekend at Pent Farm (Nr Folkestone) along with Spitfire BM597 as part of the 'Fly with a Spitfire' event B (:

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

I have somewhere, a VHS video of Mosquito RR299 displaying at the North Weald 'Fighter Meet' that I filmed in 1995/6 (?) - an unforgettable experience which I must dig it out and put up on youtube! I was heartbroken at her terrible end, particularly as it was due to poor maintenance. As I...

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

I saw them at Headcorn last Saturday, superb sight and sound. Here a pic taken with my crap camera - 9 Merlins and a Griffon. I did though manage to get some nice video clips of them coming head on, an unforgettable sight.

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

I would say front rank: Thunderbolt flanked by two P51 Corsair plus 2 Furies Hurricane, Hellcat and P51 then a mixture of 51's and Spits of various marks, and maybe and couple of pretend 109's ... I'll get me anorak :smoke:

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

Stunning John! A couple of pics I took at Pent Farm, just 7 miles from here. In the summer we are treated to a Spitfire and occasionally, a Hurricane which are based here for 3 days a month throughout the season, for the "Fly with a Fighter" air experience. A wonderful and free flying display...

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

Quite so! Rob, that was quite a scary experience in your Arrow! I was in the ATC I did quite a bit of flying but couldn't afford PPL lessons, but I had a mate who had one so he would often let me fly his Cessna from Biggin Hill - once he'd taken it off I hasten to add! I also did a weeks...

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

Barred Wobbler, with reference to "Black 6", I was lucky enough to be at the 1995 North Weald Fighter Meet where for the first time since WW2, not one but two genuine ME109s flew together over that airfield! I borrowed a VHS camera from work but the battery died just as the simulated dogfight...

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

Hi BW, that's quite a place eh? IIRC there's a B52 strung from the ceiling that's at eye level in the cafe - extraordinary :eek!: Thanks for the pic of the Rapides, it was the black one wot dun it!

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

A nice story Barred Wobbler I also flew from Duxford, I took my old mate (the cheeky chum I mention in the Lancaster story) for a flight in a 1938 DH Rapide for his 50th birthday - quite an experience :eek!: Sadly he passed away in 2009 but I have an everlasting image of his face, rigid with...

Anyone else like Birds AND planes?

I'm a fan of both and have been since I was a kid. Living quite near RAF Biggin Hill as a kid and went to my first airshow there in 1963. Me and a cheeky chum skipped school and went to BH and almost got a flight in this Lancaster NX611 that had landed there en-route from Australia in 1965...
