totally agree that Gailigongshan and west is better, but I've never been to Xishuangbanna and red all the Thai stuff for my China list. Cheers Mike- MKinHK

Even though I've just started digiscoping, I made the decision to put birding ahead of photography back in the mid '80s and have not regretted it. Its been a tremendous pleasure to see some great birds from all over China, but I'm definitely a believer in doing the birding you want to do...- MKinHK

You may be surprised about what is crowd-pleasing Shi Jin. I had a visitor to HK who was an experienced tour guide who's just come back from a trip to Australia tell me that the most surreal bird of the trip was one of our greyscale Great Tits! Post 'em all, I say! Cheers Mike- MKinHK

Hi Shi Jin Is "Temple Mountain" Miao Feng Shan? I had some good birding here on a couple of visits in 1990/91 with the highlights being Alpine Accentor (on the top), Pallas' Rosefinch, Yellow-bellied Tit and Goshawk. I lost track of this terrific thread for a few days - knocks spots off my Summer Palace birding in 1990/91 when studying in Beijing, but I did have a flock of 800 Daurian Jackdaws overhead on one day, and as for the swans, and especially the Mute Swans - MEGA!! Great stuff! Cheers Mike- MKinHK
