    From my experience with my Eos bodies, and EF lenses, I would always recommend optimising the AF-MA settings for your birding lenses. I've spent hours in the garden, and more hours at the local lake doing this. At least when I do get a decent shot, it's not wasted due to focusing errors...

    Case 1 - with its default settings. That's with both the long end of my EF 70-300 L, hand held, and with my EF 500 F/4L IS, gimbal & tripod mounted.
