    I wouldn't try this with the D300. It doesn't work all the time , even with the D3/D3s . When birds spring in to action the AF is too slow to latch on and you miss the sequence. The 1.7x is the way to go and the 1.4x when the lighting is not as good or the action is fast. Neil

    Lousy light but tested the new TC111 2x on my mates 500/4 AFS while I was using the 300/2.8 AFS VR. Required iso down to 3200 in the morning. Achieved AF slowly in these conditions and not reliable on fast action. I missed some good images of the Bluetail early on as it wouldn't find focus...

    Unfortunately not. I have a D2x which I will try with tomorrow. All the images posted have been "noisewared" . I also use Coloramancer. At least one of the images has been "washed" with a light Noiseware and then Colormancer. They were processed from Raw originals . Neil.

    I've got my fingers crossed on that too. I was able to get reasonable AF with the 1.7x on the 500 mm (even flight shots )so I'm hopeful, although 1000 mm is a bit much for the garden where I'm photographing at the moment. I'll test it out before I take it out to the wetlands on Monday. Neil

    I picked up the TC111 today. Did a quick test in my loungeroom on the 300/2.8 AFS VR and AF seemed ok. Will test out in the field tomorrow. Neil.

    Kevin, I have one on order with the D3s. I should have it next week ( the 2x has already arrived ) . I'll post some tests as soon as I get it. I'll mainly be using it with the 300/2.8 AFS. Neil.
