Nikon SE and Zeiss SF 8x32 comparison.

Eric, It’s easy to make choices, read labels and search for alternatives. I don’t buy any MIC luxury or hobby items, and I only buy China for absolute necessary household items if I can’t find anything else. I’ve been doing just fine for the last two years, and probably have cut out 60-70% of...

You don’t have to be sorry, I didn’t believe it either. After a clime to higher up management had confirmed the change. After which I had called B & H and asked them, and they confirmed what Nikon was saying. I was going to visit them next week, but it’s no necessary because they’re out of stock...

That’s what I’m expecting. I’ll let you know next week when I take a look at one from B&H. Paul

Not wondering, complaining. Not necessarily afraid this will kill western and Japanese companies, it was coming and unavoidable, for multiple reasons. Don’t want to get political and upset the woke , or invite the anti-woke. I (as many) prefer and choose other countries of manufacture, at...

Update and bad news! Nikon Monarch HG’s (the whole line) are now made in China. $1000 binoculars now being made in peoples republic, Nikons top of the line. I knew it was coming , I didn’t think it was going to be this soon. Who’s next? Only took me two weeks and six replies of email...

Typical of Nikon, can’t give a straight answer. Most of the time it’s because reps don’t know how to answer it.

My understanding is MHG is MIJ. I’d be surprised if they made the move to MIC on $1000 binoculars this soon. I try my best to not buy anything MIC. I wouldn’t buy MIC if they started making Swaro NL’s for $500. I think your still good with the MHG and service for a good amount of time. Paul

We’re going to need to assemble a few of these together and do some side by sides after the holidays. I tried one of these 6.5’s a while back and the edges were atrocious. I don’t remember the off name brand, I’m trying to find the pictures now. I had experience with the Foresta 8x32 MIJ and it...

Im not sure if there would be a market for a SWA porro, I think the porro ship has sailed, the design is to old. I feel it would be a kind of niche market for the people who grew up with porros, and maybe some of the younger retro crowd. But it is possible that we may see more wide angle roofs...

This is a good point I’ve thought about as well. It’s like a fad, it comes and goes like a circle but with a new advertising twist that some how motivates us to spend these insane prices. The real wide field bins for consumers I believe started in the early 1950’s, then became the fad. The good...

I don’t know too much about the popularity of the 7 x 35 in Europe. I do know that Swift (Japanese manufactured) did have specific models like the 766 in the Panoramic MK2 that were marketed for the European market , which were the identical binoculars to the US Holiday MK2’s. Swift also had...

I had four, past two of them on to others to enjoy, because I’m like that 🤣. Nooo, a lot of history here on these babys. To start with , Bushnell never made binoculars, they contracted out to Japanese optical makers. There’s some great detailed history on Rangmasters and the multiple...

Nikon SE and Zeiss SF 8x32 comparison.

Between the SE and Rangmaster , I’d choose the Rangmaster (FPO silverline or the Kowa). The overall feel of 10°, the DOF (7x) and more of that 3D effect out does the slightly sharper Nikon. An excellent condition , all coatings in tact, and well collimated Rangmaster is as good as it gets in a...

Lol, he’s not letting go of those SE’s. I compared them to my EL’s and a few others, the SF as in this discussion, I also compared them to the Leica Ultravids, 8x30 Habicht’s, E2’s to name a few. They really do hold up very well. Im not confident at all that Nikon will be coming out with a new...

Hi Arthur, Some people see that ring, and some don’t. I think there’s been a few discussions here on Birdforum about it. I think it’s an individual thing , and it has to do with how you have the oculars tucked in to your eye sockets. Some also see it in and one configurational and not in another...

The Nikons are phenomenal glass. I don’t use them a lot but every time I pick them up, I’m amazed at how good they are. There truly is not much separating these from the best of the best.

Nikon SE and Zeiss SF 8x32 comparison. This is just one persons subjective opinions. The Nikon SE was the last run (550XXX) with the latest coatings. Conditions: Beautiful bright sunny day, about 60°F , Sun just overhead at noon overlooking a small body of water fed by the end of one of the...
